Happy Thai is very aptly named. With the very welcoming and friendly service from the waiter, it was hard not to be happy eating there. The interior is more comfortable than you might expect from the outside. The building isn’t decrepit or anything, the outside appearance just does not prepare you for the warmth inside. I had a Thai iced tea and the stir-fried curry noodles with tofu. Good Thai tea, very creamy, maybe a little on the sweet side, but not too excessive. I loved the curry noodles. The presentation wasn't fancy but the taste was right on. The portion was pretty generous and I thought I wouldn't be able to finish, but I did end up finishing it all because it was so good and not heavy, but very satisfying. I ordered it “hot", which is spice level 3/5, and while calling it "hot" might be generous, I did think the spice level was appropriate for a 3/5 (the spicier levels are "extra hot" and "Thai hot"). Also, since I ordered the dish with tofu, I appreciated that the waiter asked if I was okay with fish sauce (I was, but there was the option to remove it) and with egg (I went with no egg). The prices for my noodles and Thai tea were appropriate. Besides the pleasantness of the service, it was also not a very long wait for food after ordering. I'll consider coming back next time I'm...

I had passed this restaurant for a few years. The other day, I decided to give it a try. It sort of looks like a "dive" on the outside, but once I stepped into Happy Thai, I noticed that the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I wanted some lo mein to go, but the attendant said that the restaurant didn't have lo mein. I was disappointed, but I decided to give the noodle dish a try (the attendant recommended one). I think it was called Pad Chow Mein, made with ramen noodles. I thought to myself, I can make ramen noodles. But, I was committed to give the restaurant a try. I'm so glad that I did. I brought home my dish and it was so good, I was flabbergasted. Wow! I think they are the best noodles that I ever have had. I'm a vegan, so the dish was only veggies. Everything tasted outstanding. I will probably go back soon. It was so, so good! I don't know how Happy Thai gets the flavors that it does – I wish I did – my dish had flavor that slays...

Studying for finals and decided to order from this restaurant for the first time and will never order from them again. I don’t know if this is how Indiana does their Thai food but never have I ever gotten a chicken entrée in a soup cup. & I know it’s a lunch portion but the chicken is insufficient. Do not recommend this to anyone, even my enemies. Total garbage. Also it’s called cashew chicken, and there are like 6-7 cashews. I know Asian culture differs, but if you’re serving in America, serve reasonable portions to your customers. Lastly, their inability to follow instructions to make it spicy and failing to do so is unacceptable incompetence, especially when you clearly give the customer the option to click the...

Happy Thai is Bloomington’s best kept secret. This restaurant has become our favorite Thai spot in town for not just the food, but the service and value. Every dish we’ve had here has been delicious. Our favorites include the Drunken Noodles, Thai Fried Rice, and red curry. The lunch deal (M-Sat) cannot be beat - $9.99 for an entree of your choice and vegetable soup! Everything tastes so fresh and made to order. The staff treat you like family when you dine in. The service is very quick as well which makes it a perfect spot to grab a quick lunch. The location is not the best, but don’t let that stop you. This is seriously some of the best food you can find in B-Town.
