This is my favorite espresso: rich - creamy is almost a better word - with a gently toasted, dark chocolate taste. I was here two years ago and have dreamed about this place since then. Seriously. It's the best espresso I've ever had.

And part of it really is about the place. It's like a cross between a roadside coffee stand back in Washington State and a general store. There's not really places to sit, set up your laptop and be productive but it's a good place to linger a bit and be just social enough for New England.

In some coffee shops, they want to get everything done efficiently - and I appreciate it - but these folks at Bucklyn? These folks are craftspersons. They take the time to do it right and, if there's a wait, don't fret. It's so worth it.

(Update: I hadn't been here for three years because of the damn pandemic. Still the best espresso, ever. The line is long but for a pilgrimage...

For a long long time, it's been very hard to find good coffee in Blue Hill. Green Mountain crystals, anyone? I've gotten used to settling for bad coffee here, or just ordering long-distance Peet's. So imagine my shock when I walked in to Bucklyn Coffee a few weeks ago and found David, with a variety of his own single-origin roasts from some of my favorite coffee-growing parts of the world. David clearly pays a lot of attention to his roasts, and was happy to discuss roasting times, coffee/water ratios, and country characteristics. I'm over the moon about Bucklyn Coffee, and I wish them a long and fruitful tenure. Hey Bangor... can you hear me? Drive down to Blue Hill to get some really...

The owner moved from Brooklyn, New York to Brooklin, Maine and has introduced a great little shop right in downtown Blue Hill.

The espresso might be the best I've had in all of Maine, though I'm sure there are some great options in Portland I haven't tried! If you're in the area, it's definitely worth the stop! The baked goods are nice too, especially the biscotti šŸ˜. There's really no room to hang out inside, but that leads us to the location!

The location is really great, with just a stone's throw to the Atlantic ocean and a beautiful park! In warmer weather, grabbing an iced espresso and taking a walk around anywhere near the...

The cutest little coffee shop! The place is super cozy and charming, and the guy working there was incredibly nice. I ordered an iced latte, and it was honestly the best one I’ve had during my 10-day fall road trip across New England. Coming from Puerto Rico, I’m used to strong coffee, I can’t stand when a latte tastes too milky or weak. At Bucklyn Coffee, they really know how to make it just right. My mother in law ordered a Cappuccino and told me the same, she loved it! Highly recommend stopping here if you’re in Blue Hill! ā˜•šŸ

Lovely little gem of a coffee shop. Ordered an oat milk maple latte and the chocolate pecan cookie (vegan and GF), they didn’t disappoint. The coffee is buttery smooth without any bitter notes. It far surpasses the lattes I normally order on the Jersey shore. The owner is very kind and efficient as well. Will make a point coming here each year moving forward. Side note, there’s parking across the street if you cannot find a space in front of the shop.
