As a first-time customer, we were very disappointed in the customer service at Frankie Bones, Blufton. Frankie Bones came highly recommended by a friend to my father in-law. So, it was only natural he chose this location to celebrate with family & friends after getting married. The location was perfect, and the private room was very elegant. He had reserved for 25 people and when we arrived the table was ready, and they sat us with no hesitation. The waiters came, introduced themselves and started taking appetizer (the spinach dip, green tomatoes and mozzarella sticks were great) and drink orders. Right before the food came out, is when things began to take a turn for the worst. The ceiling started leaking on the table and after notifying the manager, she cleaned the table up and offered to leave a dish towel for my sister in-law to continue wiping the table off as it leaked. Not only was this gesture unprofessional but unsanitary as well, to have to do as a customer while eating. I ordered the NY Brick Steak & Crab-stuffed Shrimp. When my food arrived to the table, I noticed something red sticking out of my mashed potatoes. I figured it was a plastic skewer, the kind that normally comes in a steak, so I immediately pulled it out, ready to dive-in, only to realize that it was a plastic bread tie. I couldn’t believe my eyes!! I couldn’t for the life of me understand why a plastic bread tie would have been in my mashed potatoes. Thankfully I didn’t start eating it yet or most importantly, give any to my 9mos old baby. I immediately called the waiter over and he sent the manager to the table. The manager arrived at the table very defensive and not at all apologetic, he began saying he did not know where the bread tie came from or how it got on the plate but he was for sure it did not come out of the kitchen that way. I reassured him that I do not walk around and put bread ties in my food. He then had the audacity to ask me if I wanted the food replated or whether I wanted a new plate. I could not believe my ears, as someone whose worked in customer service for 10yrs, I would have never thought to ask a customer if they wanted the same food with something foreign in it on a new plate. I asked for a completely new steak on a new plate. He stated that he did not appreciate the implication that the bread tie came from his kitchen but could not explain where else it could have come from. He brought the food back with an attitude, asked me to cut into my steak to ensure it was right then said he took it off my bill as if that was my primary intention. I’ve definitely had better tasting $30 steaks. After everyone’s food came out, no one ever came over to inquire whether things were good with our meal and/or if we needed anything. However, that same male manager visited each table to inquire about everyone else’s meal but never once approached our table. Frankie Bones, Blufton, SC has extremely poor customer service and they discriminate against their guest. We will not be returning to...
Read moreWe spent our 45th anniversary dinner at Frankie Bones. It felt like this restaurant was trying too hard. I don't know how else to say it. The atmosphere was nice, leather booths, somewhat subdued lighting, and servers in uniformly black attire. The prices were very high for what we received. My husband ordered the rib-eye which was served looking less than appealing. No char, no pat of herbed butter or frills. The meat looked anemic. It did taste quite good, but more tough than I would have liked. But then again, I didn't order it. I ordered the filet, mostly, to be honest, because it came with herbed potatoes, creamed spinach and wasn't $42, as was the rib-eye. I must have had a premonition about the entree because I added a late order of meatball appetizers to the meal - very glad I did. My meal was... again, trying too hard. Small piece of meat atop perhaps 1/3? cup of spinach, 6 small potatoe wedges in an array around the meat and a (tasty) drizzle of a reduction of some sort. I laughed as the meatballs came within a minute of the entree. Those were amazing! Two huge delicious meatballs. The bread too.. that was ridiculously wonderful. Chewey fragrant crust, almost sourdough quality interior with chilled butter. I ate my entree in a few minutes and laughed with pleasure at the appetizer and bread. Wt ordered carrot cake and coffee for dessert - it was a celebration after all - that too was delucious. I wish I'd taken photos!! The server was pleasant, no"gift" of coffee or tiny bite as a congratulations.. though my husband made reservations online and they specifically asked if it was an event. He said yes, our anniversary.. no refills without us asking repeatedly, it would have been nice to have been offered more coffee, and water. We enjoyed each other's company because we were celebrating our marriage. We had been told to try this restaurant since we moved here 8 months ago. Done. Repeat? Probably not In essance, my advice? Order the meatballs, enjoy the bread and savor the carrot cake - it is delicious. Oh, and don't come with any...
Read moreFirst time there from a friend's recommendation. Disappointing for such a positive review restaurant. We had a large party of about 25. Ordered the trifecta pasta, dry and oily at the same time. Or maybe it was excessive butter, not sure. The veal was dry. Male waiters seemed to have attitudes, and the young female waiter was very sweet. Others in our party had disappointing meals as well. One other that had the same thing I did, felt the same, dry and greasy. Water dripped as condensate from the ceiling onto our table and in glasses. Reported it and a waitress came and wiped the table and asked if we would like to keep the cloth so WE could continue wiping it. My daughter in law ordered steak and potatoes and object (plastic clasp for i.e. bread bag) was in her potatoes that when reported to the manager his response was that no way that came from their kitchen. Intimating that we put it there. Insult to our integrity and intelligence. People are human, mistakes happen, should have been an apology not an accusation. No one said it was put there intentionally but it was def put there. And not by anyone of our party just coming from church and there to celebrate my wedding that just occurred. We don't need a free meal, all present we're college educated, gainfully employed individuals. The manager smuggly stated that the meal was removed from the ticket as though that's what we wanted all along. What we wanted was a decent meal for the price, food not dry, not slathered in olive oil or butter and wait staff without an attitude, and no condensation from air vents dripping on our food. Unsanitary. Quality protocols and customer service dictates that any food leaving the kitchen is checked, observed etc for appearance, temperature and presentation. Extremely disappointing. What a memory for my wedding day with friend's and family having a regrettable meal. In fairness, a few did enjoy what they had but it should have...
