The attentive and personable staff were more than happy to provide recommendations and cater to dietary preferences.
I started my breakfast journey with a cup of their signature coffee, a robust blend that complemented the homely atmosphere. The menu offered a tempting array of dishes, but I opted for the Southern Benedict—a delightful variation featuring poached eggs atop a bed of crispy fried green tomatoes, smothered in rich hollandaise sauce. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, perfectly balancing the tanginess of the tomatoes with the velvety hollandaise.
The portions were generous, ensuring that no guest leaves Plantation Cafe with an empty stomach. The grits were creamy and flavorful, a true testament to the kitchen's dedication to Southern culinary traditions. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the biscuits were a fluffy delight that practically melted in my mouth.
The service at Plantation Cafe was impeccable, with the staff creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The genuine smiles and friendly conversation added a personal touch to the dining experience, making it feel like a home away from home.

Read moreI always leave honest reviews. I have spent many years as a server and service has so much to do with my experience. With that in mind, my dining experience at Plantation Cafe was... frustrating. When we ate, there were 3 servers there, it appeared that our server was new. She definitely made a ton of mistakes, but she also received zero support from the other 2, more experienced servers. I ordered a bowl of broccoli soup and a reuben with FF, hubby ordered breakfast. In a few minutes, I saw the bowl of soup in the window. The other servers walked by it several times. Our server was sat again, (they were on a rotation basis). She was taking the other table's order and my soup sat in the window. She came to the window, saw it was my soup, but decided to get the other tables drinks instead of running my soup. The other servers were doing side work, leaving the soup to get cold. By the time our server came back to run the soup, the rest of our order was ready. She sat the soup in front of me and I told her that it sat in the window for 6 minutes and it was cold. She left the rest of the food and took the soup back. She didn't bring ketchup or the requested sauce on the side, so we waited for her to come back to get those so we could eat. All this time, the other 2 were smoking outside and filling coffee filters. By this time, her other table was calling her, so she ran over there. Our food was cold by the time we got everything we asked for when we ordered. Sadly, the reuben was awful, see picture below. The meat wasn't unfolded onto the bread, the kraut was in a pile in one spot. One can overlook a new server's short comings, if the food is good, or the menu is creative. I don't blame the new girl one bit. She presented many opportunities to be helped, but the other 2 servers were not interested in supporting her. They weren't team players and it was aggravating to watch. It is...
Read moreI went to the Plantation Cafe’ in Bluffton S.C. with a friend. My bill was $8.52 including tax. I paid with cash, giving the waitress a $20.00 bill. She returned $11.00 in change. So I mentioned she made a mistake, that the change should have been $11.48. Her reply, well, shocked me.
The waitress said they do not give coinage change. She directed me to the manager/owner and his explanation shocked me even more. He said when the bill is PAID IN CASH they ROUND UP the bill amount to the NEXT DOLLAR AMOUNT. His, the manager/owner, reasoning was the Plantation Cafe’ believed this is helpful to the customer who may not want to fumble with the change or have it jingling in their pocket. Actual response! He said this was helping the customer by keeping their change. Actual response!
I was stunned. I asked why he, the manager/owner, gets to make the decision for the customer to keep their money/change. He said this was the policy of the Plantation Cafe’ to ROUND UP TO THE BILL TO THE NEXT DOLLAR AMOUNT and it will not change. That they will not give coinage change when the bill is paid in cash. When our exchange ended I asked the manager/owner why he hadn’t asked or taken the initiative during our exchange to offer me my coinage change from the bill? His response was, “Well, do you want your change?”
The Plantation Cafe’ will keep your money above and beyond what your actual bill total is when you pay in cash. The manager/owner seemed unfazed by how ludicrous his reasoning was. Nor, he said, did he think this policy was wrong and, well, actual theft from the customer. I have to wonder if the Plantation Cafe’ claims this non-earned revenue on their taxes as income. CHEAT THE CUSTOMER, CHEAT THE IRS. Seems like a small next step.
