Well, I've had many good dishes here for take-out. Sesame chicken was NOT one of them. Just had it delivered and it was horrible. Only two broccoli florets, and the sesame chicken had way too much soft and mushy breading over stringy DARK meat. Couldn't eat it. The soup and egg roll were good. Guess I need to avoid breaded dishes. And PS, good restaurants make sesame chicken with all white meat. Looks like a hit or miss place. Scroll down for earlier reviews.
UPDATE While it was a big mess Christmas day, it has since improved dramatically. Website ordering is (still) a little funky but it gets the job done. Orders have been ready on time, and the food is good. It ain't NY good, but it's our go-to place for Chinese down here.
ORIGINAL Not ready for prime time. What a train wreck Christmas Day. Ordered take-out early online for a 5:15 pick up. I thought I may have a problem because many of the items on the menu were associated with duplicate item numbers (e.g., S1, S2, S2, S3, etc). But since I ordered by item name, I figured it was just a website glitch. Arrived at 5:20 and asked if my order was ready, and was told another 5-10 minutes by a young boy. Certainly reasonable. As I waited I started chatting with a guy who ordered online for a 4:30 pickup! Wait! What!? It was now 5:35. People were being told "your order isn't ready yet" and when they asked how much longer, was told "at least an hour." An hour!? At 5:50 or so I squeezed my way back to the register and asked about my order. I was ready to cancel. The guy found my ticket and pointed to an item on the order and said " we don't have this," pointing to Honey Garlic Chicken. I said "that's too bad, but that's not what I ordered." I thought he had the wrong order, but after further inspection I noticed the other items were correct under the correct phone number. I asked him to cancel the order and credit my card and was told the order was never put through and charged.
They need to shut down the "order online" option on their website and re-tool. It's obviously not accurate. As one of my fellow reviewers wrote, it looked like they didn't pay attention to the online orders until you came it, and at the point was told "it'll be at least an hour."
Clearly the kitchen was severely understaffed. It's too bad, I've read other reviews and the food is good. Maybe I'll try again in a couple of months when they get their...
Read moreI will start by saying overall this is the probably the best American Chinese food that I’ve ever had and I’ve tried a LOT of them. Some places are more expensive and taste diabolical, and I never go back.
The food feels fresh, and feels like it was made with love and invention, not covered in oil.
A lot of options for vegetarians and vegans.
I ordered a dish for my dogs and they devoured it, there was nothing left in their plate. I was surprised because usually they won’t eat most Chinese restaurants meat, which is weird, because dogs will even eat rotten meat.
They also pay attention to custom order modifications, which is really nice.
All the dishes I ordered (I think 5- 6 were all good and so flavorful, except for one)
I also appreciate the presentation; it’s really satisfying to unpack the dishes from the paper bags.
What I disliked:
Their mapo tofu tastes weird. To be honest I’ve never had actual good mapo tofus from American Chinese restaurants anyway, only from authentic Chinese restaurants. No sichuan taste.
They missed on items. I ordered hot sauce, paid for vegetable fried rice and got white rice instead with one of my dishes. It’s frustrating to pay extra just to not have these items in my order. Now I’m going to have to double check, which is not my job, and a hassle.
I ordered tofu stir fry and the ratio of tofu and vegetables was off. It felt like a vegetable stir fry with some pieces of tofu. Would be nice to have more generous amount of tofu. But it still tasted great.
I’m so happy I found this place. I love the restaurant and im definitely going back. Just won’t order the mapo tofu dish and will double...
Read moreGiven Boca's lack of decent Chinese food, one has to root for the success of a new family-owned Chinese restaurant. The food at Camino Asian is fine--better than most Chinese in Boca. However, ordering from them is playing roulette with your meal time. And, when you gamble, you lose, and the house wins. The children take the orders; the parents cook. During peak times, the children only know to take orders regardless of whether the parents can handle the load. They eventually tell customers of the potential of a wait but only after the wait is in the 90-minute area. Moreover, the children have no idea how a customer should be treated. They routinely understate the time the order will be filled. And are typically unapologetic for the delays they cause. I've ordered four times. They were very late on three occasions. The last one was today. Knowing there would be large volume, I placed an order at noon for 4:00 pick up. I got my order around 5:00. It was clear that they paid no attention to the order until I arrived. This review parallels others in Yelp. I hope they wake up to their problems and save themselves before they go belly up due to the way they abuse...
