Visited on 9/26/2022 at 5:00 It has been a few years since I was here and know the place is not fancy and that’s not an issue.
Upon entering we were standing in the doorway waiting to be greeted to let us know where to go, but had to get someone’s attention which was a person on the phone speaking rudely to which I am hoping was not a customer.
We were finally led to the cash register where a girl gave us some menus and told us to order at the register when ready.
When we were ready we went to the register and waited for assistance, finally the girl asked someone behind the counter to assist us. He can up with a load of food in his mouth and started to talk and we told him to go ahead and finish chewing and swallow the food please.
He proceeded to take our order and when we got to the spuds, he said they were out of them.
We ordered our food and asked our bread to be toasted. We received our food in a timely manner, but the bread was cold. We brought it up to the counter and asked for the bread to be toasted.
The lady, who seemed to be in charge at the moment brought the food back and said “sorry I am not the one who took your order”, like it mattered who did take the order, the responsibility relies on the entire staff.
As we were sitting I could see into the kitchen and a huge box of potatoes. I asked the woman who seemed to be in charge if they were out of potatoes and she said let me go check. She returned and said we ran out of potatoes around 3:00. I asked her if that box on the floor were potatoes and she said yes, at which time I said, so your not out of potatoes. She said nothing and turned away to go back to work
I will say the food and portions was excellent, which is how I remembered it. The reason for the low review was due to the customer service and cleanliness of the establishment.
The person with the beard was rude, kept making comments about things, and tried to sing (or something) which was unfortunate as even if he could carry a tune, it is not the right establishment to do so.
The girl behind the pastry counter had called out a customers name, who was sitting in the back part of the place and when he didn’t immediately didn’t come up(3 seconds) she proceeded to complain to the man with the beard why he made her make the plate. The man was approaching and she said his name with an attitude and kept complaining abut the order to the other workers.
The lady in charge had her teenage daughter with her and she was not doing what her mother asked if her and was just making disruption to all of the staff.
The young staff members were also cussing and just made for a horrible dining experience.
Food was good, staff should all be fired and whomever owns this establishment hire some professional employees who can be respectful, and keep up with maintaining a clean friendly environment.
Maybe order your food to go, oh wait there was a lady and her daughter there picking up food and well let’s just say that didn’t go so well either.
Get rid of the kids, or teach them manners and how to respect each other as co-workers, and be respectable to customers. Have a dress code as well
Purchase a broom and clean up the place, if the front end looks dirty, I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like and how many codes are / may be...
Read moreVisited Bumdoodlers last week. What to say, I felt unwelcome to say the least. The cafe was empty, the cashier was a lady in glasses, she looked too annoyed by my presence and made it clearly that she didn’t want to see me as a customer for whatever reason she had: she didn’t greet me, she didn’t smile, and was giving me a really mean and angry look (I’ve never felt such anger and hate from anyone in my life!), she acted like she was making me a favor and couldn’t even pretend that she was glad to have the only customer at the that moment. I ordered a couple of pie slices and wanted to have a meal at the cafe but her unfriendly behavior and hateful look changed my mind and I took my business to another place. At the end the cashier didn’t thank me or said goodbye.
When I came home I couldn’t even take a bite of the pie slices I bought how upset I was, I tossed them away.
I was analyzing the strange situation and such a clear unwelcome message and I couldn’t find any good explanations of such a poor treatment. Out of curiosity I ran my bank account and I found that I spent more than $600 (plus a few times I paid cash) just within this year, I’ve always left tips to help the employees too, I supported this business, I brought my family and recommended this place to my friends and that’s what I received back - rude, unfriendly, hateful look from the people I supported when they needed every single paying customer the most - during the pandemic. No words can describe how upset I am and I cannot forget how that female cashier treated...
Read moreThe pies are good, the sweet tea is a hit or miss - it can either taste right or it can taste terribly like strange water. You can customize your sandwich, I like the brainstorm with avacado/guac, extra cheese, and jalapenos. The only problem is to "heat it up" they microwave it which turns everything into rubber. I recommend taking it home without them microwaving it, put butter in a large skillet, put the sandwich in the skillet and cover. Cook on low heat until cheese is melted, meat is hot, and bread is toasted.
As for Bumdoodlers, I recommend you switch your heating method.
Another problem is sometimes they give you bread that is ROCK SOLID that a jackhammer would be required to break through it. Be very careful when you order take-out and check the bread. They'll remake the sandwich for you on fresh bread if you point it out. Hard to believe the food preppers back there actually send it out like that knowing full well they are rocks, as they touch the bread to put the sandwich together.
I also recommend the potato soup! Delicous! Wish they served it every day! If they did, I'd stop by every day! Could add chives and maybe a bit of cheese to it as extras as the potato soup is simply only potato - play with it or don't. Still good either way. Much better than Chili's potato soup which is the only other place in town...
