My family has lived in the Bogalusa area for roughly 80 years. I went to school here from kindergarten through third grade. I now live in new orleans, but will come back at least twice a year to visit the Bogalusa Cemetery where many of my family members are. Today, I decided to try Napoli's Italian restaurant. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a server. This is something that you don't always get in a big city. I was immediately brought to a table and provided a menu. I was surprised by some of the authentic Italian options. My waitress was incredibly friendly. She answered all of my questions. The restaurant itself was very clean. It has that Bogalusa down home environment. It's something that you'll only find in this area. Good people. I ordered fried calamari, which arrived and a reasonable amount of time and was quite nice. My cannelloni was delicious. The meatballs were on point with any high-end restaurant I've been to and I have a master's degree in hotel, Resort and tourism with a focus on food and beverage. I even like the little rolls they brought out. I thought it was a nice touch. The price was incredibly reasonable. All of that food was roughly $30. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in the area. Everything from the environment to the service to the food was above average. I will definitely visit again whenever I am back...
Read moreI was so excited to try Napoli's Italian Restaurant Bogalusa today. I'd done my research and decided here, but had to await the reopening after a family loss closed the establishment for several days.
It was cold and rainy today, so I ordered take-out. I tried the Shrimp Alfredo, garlic cheese bread and house salad (with caesar dressing) and paid pennies shy of $19. I got home and was concerned with the look of the salad, but I tried it, and decided to pass. The garlic bread (loaf) had part of the paper plate it was wrapped in attached to the cheese. The marinara looked oily. The alfredo sauce had large chunks of ground pepper and tasted like they forgot to add the cheese, but the fettuccine was the best I'd ever tasted - as if they'd made it just before I came in.
I sat with the disappointment for a few hours and decided I'd reach out to them. My phone was tripping, so I Facebook messaged them what I thought was appropriate, but could have been misconstrued. They "thumbs downed" my message without further response. If that's how business is done here, no wonder the city is in trouble. I had such high expectations...
Read moreI am only giving it 4 stars because the service was a little off. Our server could not speak good English, nor understand it and she wasn't as attentive as she could have been. Food wise this was some of the best Italian Cuisine that I have had in this part of the world. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was fantastic, while my better 1/2 had the Chicken Fradiavolo and it too was fantastic... Based on quality and portion size, these entree's were a great value as were the Desserts... We ordered a slice of Italian Cream Cake and the only issue with it is that it would have been much better served at room temperature as opposed to chilled, but the flavor and portion size were both fine. We also ordered a serving of the Tiramisu and it was the WOW factor of the meal... We are in Angie Louisiana a couple of times a month and will be driving on over to Bogalusa just for the Tiramisu some afternoons, though we will also be planning on dining in and trying some of the other entree's... If you are anywhere near Bogalusa and want a Great Italian Meal, then by all means swing...
