Food Review: Roma’s in Bonham, Texas - A Hidden Gem for Steak Lovers
Nestled in the heart of Fannin County, Roma’s Italian Restaurant in Bonham, Texas, is a surprising hidden gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience, especially for steak enthusiasts. Despite its Italian roots, Roma’s serves the best steaks you’ll ever taste. Yes, you heard it right, STEAKS!
The highlight of Roma’s is undoubtedly their hand-cut 18oz Ribeye’s (maybe a little bigger), seasoned to perfection for just $29. This steak is so generously portioned that it can easily be shared.
The Ribeye’s exterior is seared to a rich brown color with a slight crust. The meat is tender and juicy, offering a slight resistance when cut but yielding easily, with a moist and succulent interior. The taste is rich and beefy, with a slight hint of sweetness, and the seared crust adds a savory, slightly charred flavor that complements the juicy interior. The Ribeye steak retains its natural juices, enhancing the overall flavor and providing a satisfying mouthfeel. The aroma is inviting, combining the caramelized exterior with the rich, meaty scent of the interior.
This Ribeye is phenomenal, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to your liking. It’s a steak that rivals those from high-end steakhouses in Dallas County like Sam and Nick’s, STK, 3 Forks, Chris Ruth, Dunston’s, and Chamberlain’s, but at a fraction of the price. The owner Tony buys the whole rib section of the cow and hand cuts the steaks himself. You get to choose two sides from options like baked potato, steamed broccoli, mixed steamed veggies, grilled mushrooms and onions, house, or Caesar salad. Plus, they serve homemade, delicious dinner rolls to complement your meal.
Despite the high quality of the food and service, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. This restaurant offers excellent value for money, making it a great choice for both special occasions and casual dining. It is a testament to the fact that you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a top-notch steak.
As someone who has frequented many high-end steakhouses in Dallas County, I can confidently say that Roma’s Ribeye stands out. After hearing about this place for two years, I finally decided to see if the buzz was real. Let me tell you, it is hands down phenomenal. The steak is seasoned to perfection, and the portion size is impressive. I have been ordering this steak weekly since discovering it. . RUN, don’t walk, and tell the owner Tony, Tonja sent...
Read moreHaven't been since before covid so my wife and I decided to go post covid and it was totally different. The food was not the same quality by any means. It seemed as if the passion of the kitchen staff vanished. My wife and I both ordered $20 entrees and what came out of the kitchen was not worth the price I paid. The waitress was excellent. Her service was top notch.
Reply to owners response: I know Tony isn't responding, so this must be his brother, because Tony is highly professional and would be trying to make it right instead of retaliating against me because of the review that I gave. My WIFE and I loved Tony when he was running the restaurant. If you would have seen our plates you would have noticed we did NOT finish the food. Yet we had the courtesy of paying the bill. What did we order if you have such a good memory. FYI my wife has health issues to where she can't eat a full meal. Usually she gets a to go box for the rest of what she couldn't eat, so that she could have it the next day for lunch but she decided against it. On top of that it was her Birthday and she turned down the FREE dessert!!! That should tell you that if she didn't want to take home the rest of her meal because of how bad the main course was how could she believe that the dessert would...
Read moreRUDE STAFF! My son called to order a pizza on Friday night and realized he forgot to get Alfredo instead of Marinara Sauce. So I called to correct it for him and said “hi, I’m so sorry but we just ordered a pepperoni pizza and meant to get it with Alfredo, if it is possible to fix it that would be fantastic and if not then it is ok and our mistake.” The young lady who answered the phone said, “ ummmmm…they probably already started it.” Which seemed unlikely since it was less than a minute on a busy Friday night with a 30 minute pickup time, so I said “are you sure without asking or checking?” And with a bratty teenager tone she said “ yeah, I’m 100% sure…MAAM.” Trust me when I say that the emphasis on Ma’am was so snarky, immature. and unprofessional. Even a polite let down was not too much to ask. The entire interaction was just low class for an establishment that is trying to change its image from the longtime local hole in the wall. We have supported Romas in our community since the very beginning but some of the low standard staffing chooses make it unappealing. Do better at training staff to represent your brand, and simply be kind to...
