Okay, I see a lot of people complaining about this place. It's Mexicali style food, which would normally kind of get on my nerves but they manage to pull it off without making it feel like a condescending lifestyle statement when you eat there. It's basically just healthy, delicious food with an awesome bar---and surprisingly delicious dessert. Their ceviche is amazing, with the perfect amount of spice. Their Pacific Rim tacos were so good that my husband (who's not big on sushi/sashimi) wouldn't even let me try the sauce because he licked the container (we took it to go). You can tell that they buy quality and provide quality, but the portions aren't as horrible as everyone seems to think. It is a little expensive, but you can taste the difference in their food. It's kind of what you're looking for when you pay for food---a flavor and satisfaction that you couldn't duplicate on your own at home. I mean, you could, but it would probably cost about the same as what you pay at the restaurant. I'll be going...
Read moreEcologically unsound and overpriced. The fish taco cuisine is based on South California beach food trucks "roach coaches" at quadruple the price. Most of the menu is one form or another of Yellow Fin Tuna Tacos. DOLPHINS like to swim with schools of YELLOW FIN TUNA and are common by-catch. They brag about no MSG's and GMO, You want to impress me, put pole and line caught tuna and country of origin on your mission statement. SIX MILLION DEAD DOLPHINS IN TUNA NETS since 1950.
The atmosphere is what you would expect from a strip mall cali-mex place, you order at a counter and fix your own beverage in a non-biodegradable STYROFOAM cup. It makes me sick to see a restaurant who boasts about freshness and then does not respect the very planet that provided it. The meat to fixins ratio (the value), almost none of the "good stuff" wrapped up with all the cheap stuff. LGBT community tries to do business with their own kind, and this place is LGBT friendly, but that's the best...
Read moreThe best of Bossier, hands down. Don't be fooled by the mass of Tex-Mex eateries on every corner of this town. Don Juanz is the real thing, except, they're not Tex-Mex. Think Fresh-Mex, vibrant flavors, robust tacos, unique ambiance with a very clean dining room and a fresh face serving you. Their fish tacos, Ceviche, queso and shrimp tacos rule the Mexican food market in this predominately military town. In fact, this is one of the few places that recognizes the US Armed Forces by offering a free soft-drink to anyone in a military uniform. It's a nice approach that many overlook. I'd be remiss not to mention their desserts and margaritas. The baja nana's rival Brennan's Banana Foster. And, Don Juanz is a fourth of the price. The margaritas are award winning and they craft a perfect top-shelf margarita, the mi casa slim, using no sugar. Don't miss an opportunity to dine at this fast-casual enclave that serves extraordinary freshness...
