Let me preface this by saying I've eaten Johnny's since I was a child so I'm very familiar with this chain. Johnny's was my hands down favorite pizza. Notice I said was. I gave the Barksdale Road Johnny's 2 stars because it's not that bad all the time, only a majority of the time. I've lived in SoBo for over 15 years so this is the location I'm stuck with if I want to pick up or for delivery. My family ordered Johnny's once a week for years. It never was great all the time but it was alright, not complain worthy. Sometimes it was really good though. Recently, as in the last year & a half, it hasn't been good. The service is seriously lacking. I guess it depends on who is working there but every time I go in, I only see new people. There are a few that have been there a long time though. On Saturday, we ordered a personal pizza. We roll up to get it through the pick up window & it wasn't even ready. We had given them plenty of time. So we had to wait in the parking lot for almost 15 minutes for them to make a tiny pizza. On the times I do go in to pick up our pizza, the phone is constantly ringing & no one answers it. It's annoying for me but I can only imagine how annoying it is for the people trying to call them. Sometimes I'll stand at the counter waiting for my pick up order for 5 - 10 minutes. The people in the kitchen see me standing there, I know they do. They don't try to get the person who runs the counter. I know they're busy making the pizzas, I understand that, but vocally say something to the person running the registers to come to the counter & help the customers. As far as the food goes, the pizzas & bread sticks are inconsistent. It's a running joke in my family that we don't know what we're gonna get. It's either ok or not good. It's either overcooked or too little cheese (even though we pay for extra cheese every time). The bread sticks are either too small, not cooked all the way or doesn't have enough seasoning. It's honestly gotten to the point where we have Johnny's once a month. We rarely go to the Barksdale Road location anymore & will only order there in a pinch. We make it a point to drive to the Airline or Youree Drive locations when we do get Johnny's. We sit inside the restaurant, order drinks & all that but it's worth it. They at least are consistent & pretty good. Barksdale Road Johnny's needs to find what they're doing right & duplicate it. I'm writing this review to spark some positive change. I hope the people at Johnny's that read these less than positive reviews will do what they gotta do to make Barksdale Road Johnny's a better restaurant & not just say, we'll contact so & so. Whoever they're "contacting " isn't improving this location. Barksdale Road Johnny's you can do better & you...
Read moreHad a terrible experience and I won't be back. The younger guy who worked there appeared too be putting up the salad bar as I had just paid ofr salad bar. So I asked if I could get a salad before they put it up. Well he told me they weren't putting it up, they were flipping it. Not sure what that meant but I waited for 2 hours while the staff took all the contents of the salad bar back too the back and came back started to place them back on the salad bar as I was walking out of the gambling area and they immediately started picking it all back up again. They then left the containers of salad items sitting there for awhile as I'm still waiting for the salad I purchased hours ago. They just sat there next to salad bar for atleast an hour or so then as i walked out from the gambling area, they again took it all too the back of store. I finally asked could I get my money back and the sme young guy acted like he didn't know how to do a refund or how much he owed me for the salad bar. He calls a young lady to help o ly for them too stand there acting like they weren't sure how to give me my money back because she didn't ask my name when I paid for it also couldn't find the sale to give me a refund because she didn't give me a number when I paid for the salad bar only. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the rudeness of the employees. I men this was ridiculous and totally uncalled for. Don't know the young guys name but I can assure you I won't be visiting this location again. I ofter do visit this one but nomore. That was very unprofessional and very childish......ridiculously not funny as they thought it was...
Read moreLet's start with the good: this place makes phenomenal pizza. Seriously, it's top-notch. However, my recent experience with the customer service left a bit to be desired.
Now, I understand closing time is closing time, but my order was placed a full 33 minutes before they shut down, and I live practically next door! The tracker even said the pizza was in the oven. Unfortunately, when the delivery window came and went with no pizza, I called to inquire.
The manager I spoke with, well, let's just say their grasp on the situation seemed...tenuous at best. Explanations bounced around like a rogue pepperoni, from "already delivered" to "assigned to a DoorDasher" (for a cash order?), to finally admitting it probably never even got made. No apology, no attempt to rectify the situation, just a whole lot of "uhhhh."
Look, mistakes happen, but a little ownership and effort to fix it goes a long way. Sadly, that was missing here. So, while the pizza is undeniably delicious, I got none and the service on this occasion was a major disappointment. For anyone considering this place, just hope you don't have any hiccups that require "managerial intervention."
(P.S. I tip well, by the way....
