I had been here because I have enjoyed meals at the Country Tavern and Texas St. Tavern/Steakhouse, which the proprietor either used to own or perhaps still does. The restaurant does not have its own webpage. While both of the other places the people have been dressed in an appropriate manner and were friendly, the waitresses here are scantily clad, most in in Daisy Duke style shorts. All of the employees I can into contact with had horrible attitudes. For a BBQ place in the South and particularly in Louisiana, they need to work on the way the young staff treats customers. They also sound as though they are out of breath and are not willing to spend any time answering questions. The goal is clearly to quickly turn the table and get you out of there. The food was nothing like the high quality food that I have had at Mr. Alvis' other restaurants and was not very diverse as at the other restaurants. There were several people in our party and no one was impressed. It is extremely loud in there and is in a very unappealing location. It is out of the way, only a portion of the parking lot is paved and the rest is gravel. The grass has not been mowed near the entrance to the parking lot in obviously quite some time. Save your money or go to a really good BBQ place, of which there are many in the Shreveport/Bossier area in nice locations. It is disappointing to see Mr. Alvis is allowing this business to be run this way, which he has previously been known by his successes. This will likely not be one of them, except for people who prefer to have a meal in a loud and undesirable location with rude staff, many of which are barely clothed. Unfortunately, I had not read the awful reviews on numerous sites before trying this place. I will not ever go back and would not recommend that anyone do the same. Although I have not used their catering service and have not booked a private room, it is clear that their staff is way off the mark on that front as well, as is shown in so...
Read moreI arrived to our reservation on time for 6:30. My party had some confusion so I didn’t sit till 6:40. But when I sat down I wasn’t greeted for over 20 minutes, my friend who arrived then had to flag down someone for our waitress. She then came to take our drink orders, yet we didn’t receive our drinks until about 10 minutes later. It took another 10 minutes for her to tell me they couldn’t make my drink. We then when had another person come about ten minutes later, she had to wait about another 10/15 minutes for her drink and our alcoholic beverages. When the rest of the party came and they ordered their drinks, it was yet again a predictable 10/15 minute wait. I eventually flagged down a manager who was watching us empty handed and upset to see what the hold up was. She then came out with 2 waters, when we had multiple beverages ordered and asked her then to go check on them. When we all had our drinks we reordered our drinks knowing it’ll take a while for her to come back at all, and then ordered our food. I personally ordered a ceaser salad and expected it to come out before my brisket sandwich( in addition to another person of the party). Yet I should’ve known that would be to much to ask. I received my salad over dressed and warmer than a Louisiana summer. It was my first time here, and will more than likely be my last. I’ve been a server for over 6 years and try to have patience and understanding. I currently work at a restaurant in Shreveport, and my managers are proactive. The two managers I observed tonight didn’t come see how everything was, not even the one I personally asked where our drinks were. He saw we were having a terrible time, and instead of trying to let us know what the problem is, or try to help his server he just stood by the kitchen door delegating. Tonight however was hands down one of the worst...
Read moreWe were in town visiting as we frequently do in this area and we wanted to check this place out since it’s close to where we usually stay. We went in on a Saturday night and it was busy. We were told we could sit anywhere in the bar area so we did. The bar area was big and a nice atmosphere. We waited quite a while to be acknowledged by anyone working there. After some time the blonde waitress with boobs pouring out of her jacket came over and took our order. We ordered drinks and food which she served and then she left walking out the bar door. She left us and a few other tables for quite awhile. We ordered bbq nachos which was a generous helping but it was drenched in bbq sauce which made them very soggy and wow the flavor was way too much. Some of the sides of the dish were burned and not edible. We also ordered the sausage plate which was just okay. The sausage was kind of cold and the bread was stale. We sat there quite a long time with no waitress in sight. We needed refills and had to get up and ask the bartender for them. She wasn’t very friendly as she was too worried about flirting with the man in front of her. At one point she was on the other side of the bar sitting with the gentleman, it was weird, like who is working your bar. After some time we asked a young girl cleaning in the bar to get our waitress, which by the way she seemed to be the only working in that area. Our waitress came and we tipped appropriately even though she didn’t do a good job. Not sure if we will visit again, the whole experience was not good and the food was just eh. It’s a shame we had hopes of this being a place we would visit often as we come to the area quite a bit. Very poorly run bar with staff that seems more interested in hanging out...
