Being from Providence RI. I grew up on Domincan food and this place takes me right back! You can taste the love in every bite. I was hooked the very first time I walked and and got a whiff of that delicious homemade food smell. I especially like the fact that they are open early because when your in construction, sometimes "lunch" is at 9 a.m. This place is clean and inviting and the staff is always friendly. Its good to know there are still places where you can get an affordable homemade meal. Glad I decided to stop in! Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area!

So this place gets busy fast and only has 4 or 5 small tables inside so most people take their food to go, like I did. My oxtail and rice and beans was amazing. I also got ripe sweet plantain. My present to myself. Tender, not fall off the bone, but close. The rice was not mushy and everything was flavorful. I had to travel to get there and it was worth it. I was bummed they did not have the pigeon peas with rice and peas, but everything was really good. They have so much more to offer and everything smelled good. Worth the money, and the wait in line.

Went to collect my order after class. The place is located in a part of town that has a Caribbean and latin American vibe. The staff were super nice and got my order for take away ready in no time. I loved the plantain chips, the fried fish and the curry chicken. This curry was new for me in terms of spice and flavor compared to a south Asian cuisine. I have another serving left with fried chicken that i shall be enjoying tomorrow as this serving was shared between two people.

The food here was incredibly flavorless. I decided to give this place a real shot and so I ordered a variety of different things. Their pollo guisado (stewed chicken), res (stewed beef), baked chicken, chicharrones, rice and beans, guandules, potato salad, moro, and 3 empanadas….. it was mostly all flavorless. Quite disappointing. Not an accurate depiction of Dominican food. There are a good amount of Dominican restaurants in Boston, being Dominican myself, I know how bold and delicious our food is. This wasn’t it. The only thing we ended up eating were the empanadas (which were ok) and a bit of the baked chicken. The baked chicken at least had some flavor, but the actual technique in baking it was an issue. The skin wasn’t rendered enough, and so it wasn’t as crispy and it had a rubbery texture underneath the bit of crust that it managed to form in the oven. Overall I spent almost a hundred bucks and I unfortunately had to toss most of it out. My husband and sister also didn’t like the food and...

In my opinion, foods not quite as good as celias or la candela in New Bedford and its more expensive, but this is one of the few places you can use your foodstamps to get a hotmeal thanks to this restaurant taking part in the restaurant meal program(RMP). So it's great for big families and people with disabilities to eat a decent meal. Edit: to be fair, the pastelitos are better than the ones at celias and are cheaper, so going and buying a bunch of 1 dollar pastelitos is a good use of your money, even la candela charges 1.25 for their pastelitos, so even if i think the chicken pastelito at la candela is slightly better, it being 25% cheaper here means this is currently my favorite place to get pastelitos in the...
