To be clear this review is about my experience with the way I was treated by a worker at Community Servings when I volunteered on 8/11/23. I believe the man's name was "NATHAN" he only said his name quick in a group setting and then kept his ID card hidden in his shirt pocket the whole time. Anyways, me and a friend of mine were the only 2 black females volunteering that day and that worker was also a black man. He was very condescending to us the minute we went in the back to help out. We started by cutting up fish and weighing them. After that we were filling up plates to pack up individual meals. I was there from 9am-11:40am when I signed out. I was supposed to come back for a 2nd shift at 1pm but I couldn't get over the trauma of the verbal abuse I experienced from this man. He didn't treat any of the white people who were in that area but felt it was ok to disrespect the 2 black females there as if we less than. We are 2 healthcare professionals. He didn't want us to ask him any questions and felt like we were supposed to know who everything goes. This was my first time volunteering in this place. I've done a lot of volunteering with Rescuing Leftover Cuisine and The Greater Boston Food Bank and it's always been very pleasant. VERBAL ABUSE should not be tolerated by a worker in any way shape or form. I shouldn't have to be traumatized and distraught when all I wanted was to help in a community. I know in circumstances like that nothing will happen to the worker. So please don't bother putting any fake response asking me to contact you guys. I will be sure to let this experience be known and report this man in every...
Read moreWe've been getting Community servings Meals on Wheels for years now. There's a woman named Carolyn Smith that is absolutely one of the most compassionate kind and patient people I've ever met. I do think that they give a bit too much food. There's five containers of soup, I think it's a waste and very heavy for drivers and they won't let you leave it out of your order. The food is difficult to eat, but I'm a traditional American with very little tolerance for strange pasta and strangely worded food LOL I do wish sometimes they would just go with plain and normal dishes. The milk and cereal, yogurt cookies pies cakes and other extras really make the whole thing excellent. The Christmas program every year is unbelievable. The building is spotless, the staff as well as the drivers are professional and the volunteers are above reproach. I don't know what we would do without Community servings. My only complaint is there's too...
Read moreCommunity Servings has been our lifeline since 9/2021! They have worked with my daughter every step of the way as her dietary restrictions changed. Never a single issue with deliveries here on NS! Driver(s) always texting me as her caregiver and working from home our delivery time often falls in the middle of a work meeting 🤦♀️. The quality of the food from the soups to entrees are amazing. It’s enabled DD to independently choose what she wants at meals and heat it up, unless it’s soups the microwave is too much of a reach from her wheelchair. The fact that Community Servings also includes the caregiver for meals is so above and beyond! We are thankful every day ! Oh and the winter box in case they can’t get a delivery to you, again so thankful! Whenever we can in our circles of folks with medical issues/caregivers we make sure to share our experience with...
