You know the feeling when you get to the grocery store checkout and the person at the register comments on your items, shaming you for whatever treats you have? Yeah, it was like that. We were a party of 7 and everyone was stunned at the behavior of this waiter (who was not new). We ordered brunch including mimosa’s, waffles, etc. One person ordered “Eggs Your Way” (2 eggs cooked any style) asking for them soft scrambled with cheese and spinach, which were clearly listed above as optional adds. You’d have thought we asked to have them on a golden platter with a live toad. He bugged out his eyes and asked if the cheese and spinach were supposed to go inside the scramble (um, yes?), commenting on how weird and long the order was. He said, “I guess, if that’s what you want!” We all felt very uncomfortable, but then the eggs came: no cheese, no spinach, just hard and plain. When someone came by we asked them if they could please correct the order so they took them back to the kitchen and threw some cold cooked spinach on top and brought it back. When he came with the bill, one of our party spoke up and asked for that item to be removed. He asked what was wrong and the whole table sat awkwardly looking at each other. We had kids and out of town guests. It was supposed to be a nice get-toether. This waiter was making such a scene and it kept going from bad to worse. Everyone was stunned. Sorry if it’s hard to convey here how weird it was but it was WEIRD. He begrudgingly agreed to remove the item and asked how many take-out boxes we wanted. We said, “No thanks”. Again with the bug-eyes and rude, shaming questions… “What? You’re not taking it with you? I mean, ok, but, really?” We assured him we did not need any containers. Just the bill, thanks. At least we will have jokes for years to come. If you want to be food-shamed, this...
Read moreWhat a bummer … just a solid bummer ! Came in today for the first time with high hopes and an Empty belly. Ordered an item Togo and when it was presented,.. the staff member mentioned that in should look at it to ensure it was the correct order ( there was a bit of confusion with locating the order )
It surely didn't look impressive or compelling and I took it out of the bag as I didn’t need the single aluminum container in a giant bag. No mention of flatware,.. no mention of condiments or napkin but whatever…. Upon tasting,.. wow ! 17.00 breakfast plate that consisted of : 1.5 ounces of old, weepy, partially rotten hydro arugula 2.5 ounces of flavorless pinto beans (2) half ounce blobs of tacky pesto ish sauces ( one oxidized army green basil another romesco like ) Maybe 2.5 ounces of tempeh ( I wanted some protein ) but oh well Some random cut carrots that were also lacking seasoning Some collards tossed about
The whole thing was thoughtless, lacked value in every way and sadly,.. was executed poorly to boot. It’s really too bad because this place could so easily be much better. Add this to the list of Boulder restaurants that are passively allowed to be mediocre. For a town with such $$ and such education and so many world travelers,.. how do we collectivity allow For places like this to exist?
Let’s band together and help these people serve food that’s seasoned,.. that makes sense and that makes you want to return. It’s not that hard folks. I’m a lifelong breakfast freak and devotee … let me know if you want some help … I’d be happy to come in and share some passion and ideas for the...
Read moreThis had been a good spot for breakfast until today when I had a bad experience with my boyfriend. I ordered the asparagus mushroom which was about $12 and it came with 5 Spears of asparagus, two eggs, maybe a quarter cup of mushrooms and an inedible palenta made of what seemed like corn and grits... I requested a GF English muffin with it and it was easily one of the worst breakfasts I had ever had. I ate the asparagus but left everything else after biting into the dusty crumbly tasteless muffin as I was not going to finish something I disliked so strongly.
We asked for the check and the meal was still on the check despite sending it back. I had to speak to the "manager" on staff about taking it off and was met with an unacceptable level of unprofessionalism and attitude. No apology, no offer for substitution, unacceptable in my book. As a manager, customers need to be #1, especially when bringing issues to light. They've lost two long term customers due to how the situation was handled...
