I realllllly like to support the little guy/the local business, but I was seriously put off this evening. After giving this place a two year hold, I decided to give them another try since we live in the neighborhood. We ordered for pick up, and when my husband arrived home with the food: 1. we were missing an item that we paid for (in cash). We called to figure it out. They did not apologize. They asked if we could come back to pick up the item they took our money for but forgot to pack. I told them that if I did that that my dinner would get cold, and also that my husband would have to drive 10 minutes each way again to go retrieve it, wasting time & gas. They "offered" that I could pick it up tomorrow (?!). I asked if they could throw in something else to make up for the hassle and cost that their mistake had made me and they offered 1 egg roll (?!). I requested that they deliver it and they first told me that my address was in Boulder (but it is actually in Gunbarrel, where they also are) so they could not deliver it. I convinced them that I did indeed reside in Gunbarrel and they told me it would take them an hour or more to deliver it. Then, when it finally arrived (soggy), they knocked on the door and left it on the ground and ran away fast, I assume so as to not have to look me in the eyes. 2. My husbands teriyaki chicken tasted like a microwave dinner. 3. I ordered the house salad with ginger dressing. It was $6, but it was tiny. The dressing tasted like it was from a grocery store shelf. The lettuce was wilted from placing it on top of hot food in the bag. 4. One of the items ordered was chicken satay. It was raw tasting and did not have a grilled flavor, or ANY flavor other than raw chicken. It was white and mushy and definitely looked like frozen chicken with fake 'grill' lines sprayed onto it, which tasted like it was then microwaved. Absolutely disgusting. I had to get out my pots and pans and pan sear it to even be remotely edible; the exact thing that I was trying to avoid having to do in the first place. I ended up throwing most of it to the pets. I am still hungry, feel like a sucker who wasted hard earned money. I will never stray from you ever again, Chez Thuy! You never let me down with your delicious flavors, high quality and large portions. This place was a joke. Not only was the food quality very low, but the customer service was severely lacking. It probably doesn't need to be said, but we will never throw our money away on this...
Read moreHad dinner here with a colleague. We ate in and since Gunbarrel is more of a quiet town in the evening, we were the only ones.
Several people came in for pick-up. That would be my usual choice too, but it was also nice to sit for a bit.
We ordered the lettuce wrap shrimp. The sauce was awesome and we ate it all. Forgot to get a pic before we chowed down :)
He ordered the Singapore Meinfun, which is a noodle dish with chick, shrimp, and a curry sauce. I had a taste and thought it was nice! Too much curry can upset my stomach, but this was mild and ever so slightly sweet.
My dish was the chicken stir fry noodles. It was not as saucy or salty as I prefer. I added about 2 teaspoons of soy sauce to get some more flavor into it. Compared to the shrimp app and the Singapore, this wasn’t the best.
We both agreed that the dinner portions were too big for one person, they’re more family style. Even still, we each ate the full amount—enough for 2-3 people—so, we must have been hungry!
Their green tea is lovely! You know how most green teas have a bitter aftertaste? Theirs has zero bitterness. The water is the right temperature and the leaves aren’t over-steeped. It’s excellent.
Feeling like a little adventure, we also got the green tea ice cream. Again, a huge portion we weren’t expecting! We couldn’t finish it, but it had nice flavor. Both he and I thought the garnish on top was unnecessary—chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry didn’t enhance the green tea note. The ice cream itself was refreshing and it’s fun to...
Read moreI like Yurihana a lot because I live in Gunbarrel and they always deliver within less than 30 minutes, which is pretty impressive considering that they are cooking the food as well, with the delivery fee less than 5 bucks. As for the food itself, I would say that it is satisfactory. Perhaps the Sushi Bar is better than the prepared meals even. On one side I feel like they don’t take the cheap route of making their meals super high in sugar and salt like you might find at a panda express, but all the same- there feels like there is something left to be desired. The portions are very generous, for example ordering the 10 piece tempura appetizer I often get 20+ pieces, and the meals are always good for at least two sittings. In total, I would say Yurihana is good if you want some comfort/fodder food to be delivered, or for some decent sushi but maybe save dining out specifically at a chinese restaurant...
