First, do not call something a Chicago Dog that is not a Chicago Dog. They say it's their version, well then call it a Jaenicke Dog. The hot dogs were small and not beef, but that's on me for not asking if they were beef hot dogs. They do not have tomatoes or cucumbers for you dogs. Next, when you have chili dogs on the menu, please provide actual chili on the dogs. Doesn't seem too complicated. When my husband looked at his dogs and said there wasn't any chili on them he was told, yes, there is chili sauce on the bottom. So I asked, "You don't have chili? You only have chili "sauce"? They answered yes they have chili sauce. I told them then you need to tell people that instead of calling it a chili dog because those are 2 different things. Finally, the girl taking our order was not listening or paying attention. There was only 1 other order ahead of ours so was not busy at the time we went. I ordered 1 Dog and a fry, got 2 dogs no fry. She said she didn't hear me. And when my husband questioned about there being no chili on his dogs she said you didn't order chili dogs. Then she looked down at her order pad and saw that yes he had in fact ordered chili dogs that she had written down. When she called to the back about the missing chili, that's when we found out about the chili "sauce". The outside dining is nice enough and the fries were ok. But that is about the best I can say about this...
Read moreThis place is an institution in the Kankakee/Bradley/Bourbonais region. Everyone anticipates their opening in the Spring. The make and bottle their on Root beer that you can buy by the to go cup or in half gallon containers. When you buy a gallon of root beer you get a punch in a card, after 10 punches you get 1 gallon free. The best thing about the punch card is that it never expires! My friends and myself make sure we stop everytime we go to Kankakee, most of us come from other states. Their chili sauce is legendary (it is a sweet sauce), so much so that you can order sauce buns. They are just warm hotdog buns with sauce and any toppings you want to add. They are a drive in restaurant on the Kankakee River. You park and they come get your order. The rest of their menu is typical dinner food : chilli dogs, Chicago dogs, fried mushrooms, fries, onion rings, fried pickles, etc. I would DEFINATELY...
Read moreI love jaenickes but today was the last for me. Went to drive thru. Ordered 2 chili cheese dogs. The girl gives them to me with just chili so i told her i ordered cheese on them. She brings them to whoever was cooking(im assuming the owner). He told her thats how they do it tell you they ordered cheese so they can get it for free. I told him i ordered it at the intercom and that i was not trying to get it for free and that i would pay for it and i did. I also told him that was ignorant of him to say and asked if he was the owner all while he couldnt even look at me or respond. On top of that one of his employees stood next to him and i laughed. I said you think thats funny. And he said yes it is. I told them thats real nice buisness. I will never be back because of this. That is very rude. And maybe he should fix his cheap intercom and they could get an...
