Meh...
First, they ONLY take cash. (What is this 1950?). But you will only find this out after you park, walk in and are being seated and then there's a little chalk sign that you pass by that says "cash only".
Now I get it... there's a number of potentially valid reasons that they decided to be (cash only). But it's almost a no-brainer in this day and age (if you're a restaurant that wants to stay in business) to give customers options to pay.
I wonder how many customers they've lost because of it. Our group of 6 very nearly went somewhere else until the waitress said there was an atm nearby. Even then, we debated until we finally said, "ok let's try it." Seems like a really bizarre reason to lose potential customers with square and other pay modules so easy and readily available.
So... if you're not carrying any cash on you (which many people don't) you have to cross this busy street to the gas station (with the rude clerk I might add) and pay the atm fee, walk back, wait yet again to be seated because some other group came in and took the open seats while you were getting cash.
Second, the food is just ok, but that's all I can say. I wish I could say more... and tried to think of something I could say redeeming about it. But there just isn't.
It's not that it's bad, just really nothing special. Very plain, and even the biscuits and gravy were very plain jane and obviously watered down, but even worse it was obviously gravy made from a packet. Not even a decent quick mix either... probably great value brand or something. Just bleh honestly, and yet they're charging full from scratch prices. Yeah... no.
Now all in all, it is ok... it's edible but not great.
But again I am most baffled by the cash-only thing especially since the location is a few short minutes from a large ski resort area. The waitress (who was good but not especially friendly) told us it has always been that way.
Finally, the place is WAY too cramped and doesn't feel comfortable at all when the waitress literally has to brush up against your back to serve other customers because your seat is literally parallel to the narrow kitchen path.
This is all unfortunate, and although the food arrived fairly quickly and was correct and hot, overall it was not an experience you'd likely feel comfortable...
Read moreWould give this a half -star if option was available! Was Offered to take a seat anywhere, then asked to move so she could start sweeping, (20 minutes before 2pm closing time.). I questioned if they were still serving and told from another staff member YES!
Our server/sweeper took drink order then came back and asked if we wanted ice, they were out, well NOT really she just had to open another bag I said, Yes please would like ice. Received wrong drink order for one of us, waited while she was sweeping and finally asked for the correct drink. Betty’s special was delish, great cook!!! Our belligerent server never came back to table, we went to counter to find someone to pay, then I requested a to go cup for drink, got it but told to take my glass back to table! Very unfortunate lunch experience in...
Read moreNever been to Betty's before and my husband wanted to stop by to try it. My order included eggs, so I ask for my eggs to be done scrambled with cheese and they an an oatbrand pancake I decided to try that. I didn't care for the oat brand pancake but that is on me. The eggs came out uncooked, I told the waitress and she brought it back to the cook, the cook response was,"it sat on the stove for a long while," another employee walked in and I could hear the employee saying raw egg. At this point, I was finished eating majority of my food and got the bill. Maybe 5-7mins I got a burnt egg, needless to say I paid my exact bill and left. I also read the reviews ahead of time, but I still wanted to make my own judgement and boy was I wrong. I would not recommend eating at this place...
