Manita's Restaurant — Restaurant in Brackettville

If you can catch them open, this family owned place is worth stopping for country American or Tex Mex. They do have a buffet, but I've never tried it.

Food: Although not pictured, I enjoy their barbacoa, guisado, huevos rancheros, pericos, and chicken fried steak. Food can be inconsistent depending on the cook, but the last CFS I had was perfect and competed with Del Rio's "fancy" steakhouse by the lake.

Service: iIt's usually understaffed, and it gets busy, so it can be a little slow but not for lack of effort. Always friendly.

Atmosphere: Hasn't changed in forever. It's cute in its own way, but it could use a face-lift. I do like the different old coffee...

The food is great but the price is always different. Super super expensive! I had breakfast many times there. On a previous occasion my credit card was charged $90! This last weekend I was charged almost $30 for an omelette and 1 taco! I spoke to the owner and she did not care. She said that she raised her prices but the menu didn’t reflect the increase! I told her that I will never return in which she replied, “I don’t care!” Don’t take advantage of Hunter’s that come into town. That’s exactly what she does. She doesn’t realize I’m not just a Hunter, I’m a local resident. I’ll gladly drive to Uvalde or Del Rio before I ever step foot...

We made a quick stop here after touring Fort Clark and caught them just before closing time on a Sunday. I had the chicken sandwich and it was okay. My husband had some sort of club sandwich and said it was pretty good. The service was great and our waitress was very nice. She made sure we were not neglected.
