Rather than write a negative review I’d rather just post what happened.
I called 6 times to place a to-go order, no answer. This location is right next to us so I wasn’t too concerned about driving. Rather than wait around we placed an order around 7:30PM on the website, some of our favorite menu items had been removed so we ordered other items. Upon arrival 20 minutes later, I was informed that they don’t even use their website/ don’t have access to it (not sure how that works) but we were still charged for the order. I gave them a screenshot of the order on my phone and they wrote the order down on pen and paper. I told them I was going to leave and come back. About 30 minutes later I circle back to pickup the food. Upon arrival again I was then told they don’t have the items I’ve ordered (they should have immediately told to me when they took my order the second time) and that I would have to change it. We adjusted our order and I proceeded to wait another 45 minutes (over 2 hours total). Meanwhile the front of house seemed panicked (only two families were seated with three visible togo pickups).
While waiting I noticed the several health code violations and hazards from staff (Improper food storage, Improper handling of service ware, Improper chemical use and storage, improper self service from customers) not to mention how dirty the front of house is (stained carpet, bugs, dirty tables).
I heard complaints from almost every family and many long time customers wondering what has happened to the location, myself included.
After waiting over 2 hours for our food we still received incorrect items (I was fed up and didn’t bother to solve it at the time and left).
The food is not terrible although there have been major quality differences and changed in the past two years. Rather than baking their own naan, they used store bought naan bread, mini shrimps instead of full sized (used to have full sized), and less fresh ingredients overall. Regardless, the service, atmosphere, and experience was enough to make the food irrelevant.
I have made recommendations to city officials to investigate this location, totally unacceptable on many levels. It seems as though no one really manages the place in any way and I can’t imagine what I would find with a full inspection.
I will not be returning and will be sharing my experience with friends and colleagues in the area....
Read moreI have tried Indian cuisine in several countries and have decided it's not for me. My wife and I ordered online for takeout, I had called to make sure we could get our meal without cilantro. Neither of us likes it, I wish I did; it's in everything anymore. Anyway, they said you could put that into the special instructions. My wife said she didn't see that available, so we had to call them to make sure we got no cilantro. I order the house special Gongura Dal, which tasted good to me. It was just spicy and that's all you tasted after a few bites. My wife ordered a Shrimp biryani (we are pescatarian) and the house special dessert. She did not receive a shrimp biryani. The restaurant is not close to us and it wasn't worth driving back to get a replacement. She received a chicken biryani which was super spicy and over seasoned with saffron I think. I tried it and all you tasted was saffron then heat. She tried to use the yogurt that came with the meal to cool her mouth, it had cilantro in it. The dessert was not good either, it was basically a dough ball soaked in a watery honey mixture that had an overpowering sweet flower taste. Fair to say we won't be trying Indian again, just not for us. I did call the restaurant to have them adjust the charge since we didn't get shrimp, will wait to see if...
Read moreWe recently ordered food from Naans Indian Grill Restaurant for our housewarming, and I have to say, it was absolutely amazing! We chose a mix of Indian and American dishes, and every single item exceeded our expectations. I’m usually a very picky eater, but we had a chance to sample a few items at the restaurant before finalizing, and Chef Priya personally prepared them for us. We instantly loved everything.
Having lived in Florida for almost 6 years, we’ve always missed authentic South Indian Telugu food. We often drive all the way from Sarasota to Tampa just for a good Indian meal, and Naans has truly become our go-to spot.
I had around 70 guests for the event, and every single one of them raved about the food surprisingly even the friends who came from Texas (we all know they have multiple options for them). The quality and taste were exceptional. Some standout dishes were the Goat Pepper Fry, Italian Pasta, Double Ka Meetha, and the Vijayawada Biryani, though honestly, every dish was fantastic!
Chef Priya is not only a talented professional but also a genuinely nice person. She worked closely with us and customized the menu to our preferences. I highly recommend Naans Restaurant to anyone looking for authentic, delicious food and a warm, personalized experience. We’ll...
