Wow! Stopped by to try it today. I'm very impressed. Ordered two deluxe seafood specials, one spicy one regular and a order of funnel cake fries. Everything was delicious and very fresh. Yay! They actually have malt vinegar for the fish, if you like it. Move over Sharks. This might be my new spot for fish. Much better than Long John Silvers.
UPDATE July 24th, 2022 Came in today to redeem a free meal punch card. Man (Daniel ?according to my receipt) said he needed to check out the expiration date. I wasn't aware there was one. It expired June 30, 2022. Today is July 24th, 2022. You can't make any exception 24 days past the card expiration? I am beyond disappointed. I LOVE Captain D's and patronize the Posen, IL location weekly if not twice a week. My bill is generally around $35 to $40 each visit. I have sent many friends here as well. That is a lot of money that I have spent on food at Captain D's. The owner and other managers know me. Today I saw two workers who I have never seen before. I wish I could just get my free 2 piece meal. I do not plan on coming here again if this is not resolved. I really think the employee working today has missed an opportunity to work with the customer. As much money as I have spent you mean to tell me you can't honor a $9 meal for 24 days past the expiration date? This has left a bad taste in my mouth for Captain D's. Then the man was going to try to argue with me. I don't argue with men. No tartar sauce. No cocktail or anything else in my order. Just messed up...

I hadn't had Captain D's for nearly 3 decades. But last summer, on a trip to the family lake house, we dropped by a location in Southern Kentucky, and I fell in love all over again.
Not two weeks later, we're tooling around the area... and my wife spotted this new location! I pulled the fastest U-turn of my life, gas pinned so the rear wheels would break loose, and we got an order of hush puppies (we'd JUST eaten) to wolf down in the car.
We finally got a chance to go back tonight, and it was so, so, so very good. The seating area is closed, and tiny anyway, and there was a long hiccup at the drive-through (think 10+ minutes)...
But the fish is light and crispy, the shrimp is flavorful and perfect, the stuffed crab is one of the best crab-cake-y-type things I've ever had, and the sides are generous.
A family of four eats ridiculously well for $41 bucks, with leftovers!

Read moreMy husband and I passed the restaurant on our way home. We decided to go back, because the only Captain D's we know are in the South. We asked how long they'd been open, and they said 2 years. As soon as we came in, we were greeted by the cashier and the cook. Felt nice to have customer service. We explained that we had to try it since we loved the one in the South. So he said that means you know what you want. I definitely did!! I love their fish sandwiches. The fillets come on a buttery bun, and are way over the bun itself. It was so hot, and delicious. I tried the fried okra, and they were pretty good. Also tried the cheesecake, which was from the Cheesecake factory, my first experience. It was decent, but my daughter's is way better!😂 The funnel sticks were good, but my husband was looking for dipping sauce. I'd definitely recommend the restaurant. The service was wonderful and the food was served in a timely fashion. It was very hot and good! You should for sure...
