Revise, I apologize for my previous harsher review. Sincerely, Kim
Had breakfast recently at the Denny's in Bremerton on Kitsap Way. In over 50 years of consistently tasting the same every time this visit was really disappointing! I was really looking forward to a Denny's country/chicken fried steak, my favorite! In my lifetime (57 years), I've eaten at numerous Denny's restaurants in America & Canada.they have always been reliable, predictable, similar and lived up to a standard. A Denny's standard. The food is consistently the same at all of them. I've come to rely on this standard and have always left Denny's feeling happy and satisfied - except for this last visit. It was sad. I've been in some old Denny's restaurants before but this one appeared dilapidated and run down, possibly dirty. Nevertheless, we were hungry and anticipating the usual "comfort" food Denny's is known for so we entered and were seated. Then our server informed us that mashed potatoes were unavailable! What?? How is that even possible? I had to settle for country fried steak & eggs. Unfortunately, my food arrived cooked badly & tasted off. My steak had the gravy on it but it wasn't crispy - I've eaten this very meal 100s of times in other Denny's restaurants and this was a first! It appeared as if it had never been crispy (prior to the gravy) and it was super greasy!!! Blech! I had ordered my hash browns "extra crispy" & they were served to me as a burt potato pancake! I understand that perhaps the chef was having a bad day, maybe he/she doesn't understand how country fried steak is supposed to look and taste like? Maybe they'd never eaten CFS before? Not wanting to be rude, I ate what I could, the eggs & toast. Yes, I could have returned my plate but that would have taken time that we did not have that day. Also, due to my meal being "his treat", at the time I thought it best not to comment in lieu of his feelings and that is my mistake. I should have told our server.. Later in the truck, both of us agreed that my food was inadequate - with one exception - my over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly!! I felt sorry for all parties involved, our server, the cook, my companion and myself!! He paid the bill, left a cash tip and although I questioned the quality, i allowed our dog to gobble up my poor "steak" (to which he suffered NO ill effects). Unfortunately, my plate was most definitely NOT worth the $17.99 price paid for my meal. Our server was sweet, the service, adequate. We paid in full & left cash tip. We were one of only three tables early that Sunday morning, Sept 7, 2025.
Hey Denny's! You're supposed to be reliable!! My memories of eating at Denny's restaurants have always been happy and yummy!! I hope whoever owns/manages that particular location will learn (or remembers) what and why people for years have chosen to eat at Denny's as well as what the Denny's name represents. I hope that you will take some pride in giving that location a good scrub down & some polish. I hope you teach your staff what Denny's food is supposed to look like, taste like and the proper way to cook it. Respect the brand and respect your customers as well as their experience when they choose to eat at your restaurant! People will take notice and you will have more repeat customers! Sadly for us, our visit there had the potential to be a pleasant experience but turned into a real bummer and a regrettable waste...
Read moreI have the Denny's app and get emails from them. Got an email saying I had a rewarding expiring in 4 days. Time to go to the closest Denny's on this side of the Narrows Bridge, 30 minutes away.
A few months ago, we moved from Burien to Gig Harbor. The Burien Denny's gave us a consistently good experience and we went regularly. I would give my phone number and they would apply our meal to the rewards program.
I never really used the Denny's app on my phone because I mostly access the Denny's app from my computer where I read my emails.
Went to Denny's last Thursday night. As soon the waiter came by, I said I got an email saying I had an expiring reward for the new rewards program they recently started. He pointed to a sticker on the table with a QR code which wanted me to sign up for the app.
I'm don't know if there was a language problem or what, but he could not seem to help me except to take an order. I tried to log into my app on my phone and was having difficulty doing so. My girlfriend was HUNGRY.
I couldn't get logged in and wanted to see what the reward was. Knowing how hungry my girlfriend was, I told her to go ahead and order. She did.
I never did get into the app on my phone and decided by the time her food arrived that I would go ahead and just order some dinner.
My dinner came with 2 sides. I asked for 2 sides of hashbrowns. I got one order of hashbrowns when my dinner arrived. I know this because we went back yesterday for breakfast and the hashbrown that came with breakfast were the same as what came with my dinner on Thursday.
After eating my dinner Thursday, I was finally successful resetting my password and getting into the app. We went to the cash register to pay and I asked what I was supposed to get for free and showed her the "reward" on my app. She said it is for a free grand slam.
We left on the 30 minute drive home. I realized she never applied the total of our 2 dinner meals to my rewards. We decided to go back on Saturday for breakfast.
Saturday we were there for breakfast and had Jay for our waiter this time. I told Jay I wanted to see a manager. Jay gave a great response saying, 'I can get the manager for you but is there anything I can help you with?'
I never ended up needing to see the manager because Jay took good care of us. I told him the situation. I opened the app on my phone. He told me my expiring reward was for 2 free pancakes, not exactly the breakfast the gal at the cash register said last Thursday.
My girlfriend and I ordered breakfast. My girlfriend is the kind of person who prefers not to complain and would rather just never go back than to tell anyone why and give them a chance to fix the problem.
She got very uneasy on Thursday evening even though I was being patient and kind. I never got upset. I could see though that on Saturday, she was getting stressed having to deal with this matter again.
Jay was great. He took my phone number and came back telling me I had one reward that expired that day, and another reward (birthday reward) that expired on 9/24/25. If only the guy on Thursday did that, it would have saved a lot of stress and agitation.
We ordered breakfast plus the 2 bonus pancakes. Jay told us he comped us for our coffee to make up for all my troubles. It hardly made up for all our troubles. A breakfast place we regularly go to in Gig Harbor gives free coffee to...
Read moreFood was 3 stars, service is minus 1, bathrooms were disgusting - the men's room has urine stains on the walls we have pictures. From the second we walked in our waitress - Tasha - was very rude. The place only had two-three other occupied tables but she took about 3 minutes to even say welcome to Denny's while she worked on the cash register at the breakfast bar, then sat us down and walked off did not offer us a drink until about 15 minutes later. We told her by then that we were ready to order and she said and I quote " actually the other table is about ready so how about you just order a drink for now." REALLY I am not joking - thinking back on it I wish we had gotten up and left for Shari's. We asked for coffee and water, which she came back with about 5-10 minutes later and decided she was ready for us to order. My husband ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and a milkshake, I ordered the veggie skillet. She never came back around to even check on my coffee before our food came out 30 minutes later so I had to stir my coffee with my finger... (at this point I am wondering how they ever got that speed of service award they proudly display at their entrance.) When she did come back it was with our meals, she dumped mine right on top of the magazine I was reading - did not apologize and proceeded to watch me tweak it out from under the skillet. We had to call her back for silverware - which she did not apologize for. The veggie skillet was scalding hot, burned my tongue - I am not complaining about hot food that is the way it should come out but scalding is a little much. Not one minute later she came back to ask us how our food was and I told her too hot to eat right now, she smirked and walked off (what has this woman got against us??!!) even her non-verbals were rude. I plan on calling their manager about her tomorrow. When we were done she dropped off our bill - my husband still waiting on his milkshake decided not to bother with it at this point. We noticed she charged for coffee twice also. When we went to pay we told her the coffee was on there twice and he never got his shake - she actually had the NERVE to turn around and double check the table to make sure and then spotted it half made over by the kitchen and said "well I had started it but never got back to it," to which I replied yeah he never got it and she said "I know I was just saying". She did not apologize for that until we were leaving and at that point it was obviously out of necessity, not sincerity. She is literally the worst waitress I have come across to date - my husband and I travel across country hauling boats and have frequent Denny's across the country due to it being open 24 hours - with the kind of service that is allowed to go on with Tasha we don't plan to return to this Denny's - we will take the advice of others in the community and go to Shari's for...
