The 2 stars are for their lengua it was very good I would give them 5 starts if this review was all about their lengua. However this place has been open for well over 15 years and they still don't except debit or credit which wouldn't be that bad except for the fact that I haven't eaten here in almost 20 years so I decided to order from them because their sister store in Oakley who by the way does take both debit and credit wasn't answering the phone so I thought that maybe they weren't open on mother's day. When I called la Costa the person was very friendly when taking my order. I drove from Antioch to Brentwood to pick up my order my order was 14.00 dollars, not bad. So when I went to go pay that's when I was informed that I couldn't pay with card and that I had to use their ATM in their dining area . I want happy because the ATM charged a fee of 2.00 now that may not seem like a lot but to me it was because I had a limited amount that I wanted to spend, that I could spend and now I'm spending an extra 2.00. If I was going to spend 2.00 more extra dollars I would have at least wanted it to be spent on food not on an ATM machine. The cashier tried to ignore me as I aired my concerns because quite frankly the fact that they don't except debit or credit she be disclosed to potential customers when they call in to order. If that had of taken place then I would have made sure to bring cash and prevented myself from going over what I was expecting to spend. Everyone is not AWARE of their policy. And one last thing I ordered a bean dip with lengua and extra mole on the side. After mixing everything together when we started eating there were several Peices of paper bag in our food and we kept spitting out Peices of paper bag I don't know if they were in the beans or the mole I want to say it was in the mole but never the less the question is WHY? And I guess that's an answer that I will never get because I will never go back. But just in case you ignore this review and decide to go anyway like I said earlier in my review the lengua was...
Read moreIf I could give this place negative stars I would. Absolutely RUINED our event! We ordered tacos for a graduation party from college with a guest list of 40 people. The manager understood and was so nice about taking the order. The day of the party everything was picked up we brought it to the house right before the party started and there was hardly any meat in the containers, we got ZERO TORTILLAS (that’s right, tacos without tortillas somehow!) the drinks we ordered were to come in canisters and they tried to give us syrup. And no chilies that were supposed to be included. We had to run to the store for meat and tortillas and make them while everyone waited…. Bought canisters and made the drinks.
Here’s the clincher, when I called to talk to the manager so nicely about it, I was told he was in Mexico for two weeks and the woman who is the assistant manager didn’t even say “I’m so sorry about that.” Literally zero care that we got no tortillas and that she’d ruined a long planned party that people traveled for. Instead she got defensive and hung up on me while we were talking and told me to call back in two weeks.
Don’t get your catering here. We have been regulars here weekly, the food is good when you dine in, but get your catering else where as you’re not going to get what you ask for and there’s not even an apology or sympathy for how they effect your event. Horrible service which obviously stems from poor leadership. We won’t be back even to...
Read moreEnjoyed two Al pastor tacos while my better half had a carne asada super burrito. $3 for a street taco seems expensive, but the economic climate today coupled with inflation makes it an unavoidable evil. However, there was a lot of meat in the tacos, necessitating a fork for all the kamikazee food that jumped out of the tacos while being eaten. While expensive, they did their best to make it a good value. The super burrito was exactly the monstrosity you’d expect. My fiance could only eat half. $12 for a super burrito feels like a bargain these days. I’ve paid up to $18 elsewhere. We also ordered a horchata. All of this came to $20.50. They only accept cash, but conveniently have an ATM inside(which will charge you $3). The staff were very nice and the restaurant appeared clean. Our order was to go. There is ample seating outside and a large menu of items to order from. Parking is probably an issue during busier lunch and dinner hours. They have high chairs...
