Very good! Azteca is an unassuming little place. We were looking for a quick (but not fast food) dinner around 7 PM on a Friday night. It was empty! There is seating for dine-in service, and they offer takeout.
We elected to dine in. The server was very courteous and professional. Dining area is clean and set up nicely. There is a small area fir people to wait while their pick up orders are being prepared.
The food was really good. I enjoyed the shrimp in garlic sauce. My husband had the Oaxaca fajitas (chicken, steak and shrimp). I didn't have any, but it smelled delicious, and my husband really liked his food. He said it was well seasoned.
The sides for both dishes included rice and a little shredded lettuce salad. I was able to substitute black beans for the refried beans (I just don't like them). The fajitas also came with sour cream and a little guacamole.
In addition to our meals, we had a Coke and a Seltzer. The total was approx $48 before tip. Not bad at all. I'll...
Read moreOrdered take out under my name, when I arrived the young lady told me someone else took my food. She didn't know what to do so with me standing there she called the people who took my food, told me to wait in my car and she will come back and let me know what they're going to do. She came back and said she called another employee and said they were making me new food. Um I hope so! The girl was sweet but had no customer service skills. I am a vegetarian so I know ordering the nachos with no meat would be the same price, no problem. However, for $12.25 I got a handful of chips with hardly melted cheese, a pinch of lettuce, scoop of guacamole on the side, and a splatter of beans underneath. No sour cream or jalapeños as described in the menu. The "ranchero" sauce was simply ragu and they put ontop of their burritos. Ew. I would never...
Read moreStrike 1, we were the only ones there. Strike 2, I noticed that the phone didn’t ring once while we were there. Strike 3, the food was bland as can be. The rice had to be sitting for hours in the steam table because the flavor was washed out. Absolutely flavorless as was the burrito filling. I took 2 bites and asked to take it home leaving the rice on the plate and seasoning the burrito when I got home. I understand Brick is not a foodie town but have some pride in what you put out. My suggestion is if you want good Mexican you need to go to Lakewood where Mexicans are actually eating there. This place is catering to those who’ve never had authentic cooking. We had at least 10 people with us and anyone who cared about quality felt the food was flavorless. Anyone giving this place 5 stars must be giving 4 stars...
