Went to Crispies tonight for Friday night date night. Had not been there in quite awhile figured we would give it a shot. Bad idea! Got seated right away, another party was seated shortly after us and the hostess immediately got them bread. Never asked us if we wanted any. The waitress eventually come over and asked what we want for drinks, had to ask for a drink menu. She got us ONE menu. Came back in a few minutes with the bread , which was very good, and walked away without asking us what we want to drink. Eventually ordered our drinks and some garlic bread. Garlic bread was good but somewhat burnt. Ordered our meals and had to ask for water. Hubby ordered haddock with crab meat stuffing and linguine, I ordered Chicken Parm. The chicken parm came out quickly, she had another plate in her hand but realized it did not belong to us, she said his order would be ”right out”. My chicken parm was tasty even though it was a bit crispy around the edges. Waitress came by again and said “ yours will be right out” 10 minutes later another person came by asking if everything was as okay, my husband pointed out that he did not have his food yet, she went back and checked and said “it will be right out” , tick tock tick tock , the waitress came by and said she will go check on it, at least 15 -20 minutes went by, his meal finally came out , without the linguine , she put it down and quickly walked away to get his linguine, his meal was burnt!!!! She came out two more times to other customers without his linguine, we had to flag her over to send back the food. By now I was half way thru my meal so I just asked for a second plate so he could eat mine for dinner. Earlier I had also ordered corn chowder to go, while we were sitting there customers were leaving and the waitress said “wait don’t forget your corn chowder “ the customer said we didn’t order corn chowder, I reminded her that was for me. We asked for the manager, she came out with a bit of an attitude, when my husband showed her the pic of his fish she said ya that looks a little dark! We also pointed out the burnt garlic bread and she said that’s how they cook it. They took the fish and garlic bread off the menu but with attitude. While we were sitting there we heard the waitress telling customers their specials, never did we hear the specials, when we asked her about that she said “ well you knew what you wanted so I didn’t bother” we only knew what we wants cause we didn’t know they had specials. Anyhow, we will not be returning there . Shame, was a nice family owned hometown restaurant that is not worth going too. Sorry for the long review but so much went wrong tonight. Only have 2 pics, the burnt fish and the burnt garlic bread. Make note the menus are still sitting on...
Read moreThere were four of us dining. 3 adults and a 10 year old. We're not even sure who our waitress was. There was a girl helping her, maybe training, not sure but afterwards we even had 2 others at the table. Very hard to express what you want when so many people are waiting on you.
The first basket of bread brought to the table was just ok. The second was much better. Thicker slices and it was toasted.
We ordered appetizers of fried mozzarella wedges and clams casino. One of the waitresses couldn't even confirm how the clams casino were made. Gave an inaccurate description. Turns out another table got the last order of the fried mozzarella wedges so we had to go without.
The coffee machine was broken so no coffee. Personally if I were running a restaurant, I'd send someone to go buy a machine but clearly that wasn't a priority to them.
The dinners ordered were pasta with alfredo sauce, chicken piccatta, veal parmesan and a chicken with broccoli and a lemon garlic cream sauce. The only one that was decent was the alfredo dish for the 10 year old. Hey, at least she was happy. The piccatta was very dry. Hubby said he doesn't even remember a time that he didn't finish a meal out. The veal parmesan was burnt. And lastly, my dish had zero lemon or garlic flavor to it.
A cannoli was ordered by my mom. The shell was tasty but the filling tasted like lemon ice cream. Not even close to cannoli filling.
There was one bathroom for the whole place which would be fine except for the fact there was a urinal right next to a toilet. It was pretty disgusting.
While the staff was friendly, it wasn't worth it to me at all. I did mention to one of the waitresses that my dish had no flavor and they did remove it from the bill. I had no idea they did that until we got home and I looked at the receipt.
I would...
Read moreThe place is small, a little cramped, but clean. The food was...ok. Not great, not bad. But a little too pricy for the quality you get. (Example: Barilla pasta instead of home made pasta) The low score is mainly for the overall experience/service. We ate there last night before seeing a show at the university. We arrived with what should've been plenty of time. The service was lacking-- our waitress was kind but couldn't hear; we had to repeat ourselves multiple times. And she would disappear for long periods of time, so it took forever for my friend just to get a glass of water. My other friend was brought red wine when she ordered white, and they made her shrimp scampi when she ordered shrimp Alfredo. We also waited, no exaggeration, a full hour to receive our food after placing our orders. A different couple was seated and received their food in the time we were waiting for ours to come out of the kitchen. When the waitress finally brought out food she fell into my friend (who was literally seated & not moving) & almost dropped the plate. By the time we got our food we had to wolf it down in order to make it to the show. So we all felt pretty sick the rest of the night. Lesson of the night-- best to eat the food at Crispi's at the pace the food is delivered: very very slowly. I don't think we'll be back.
Ps: it is a little terrifying when the commuter rail speeds by past...
