Stopped off for Dessert and Coffee/Tea yesterday on my way home from Cornish and Bay Haven, when my goal had been Black Horse for Lunch, but my adventure took me instead to Cornish 1st. Had the Creme Brule and herb tea, and decided on the spot to order myself a meal "to go" for later. They never frowned, never raised a brow, or smirked with my inquiry to do that...afterall: I'm on VACATION! I ordered the Bourbon Steak Tips medium rare with peppers, mushrooms, onions on smashed red skinned potatoes. Creme was smooth textured, mildly sweet, and very good - just right serving after a meal. Without a meal preceding it, I could easily have enjoyed 2! Tips were tasted at suppertime: just tight. Smashed last night were large in portion, delicious when cooled to warm, since I detest the taste that reheated potatoes always have. Tips will be continued today til gone. Service, attitudes and welcome were 5 stars, as was my experience. Looking forward to returning much sooner than my next vacation day. Neighboring FishChips, Reuben sandwich looked scrumptious as well & possible future choice options, as is Sunday Brunch. Tables nicely placed/spaced out. Parking, now that I have seen, is better than 1st thought and noted. Did not take photos, but will next time - do indeed speak a thousand words! Hope you read this and come by, hope you see this review BH and know you are appreciated and hope to become 1 of my faves - drive from...

My husband, daughter, and I just popped in for a little lunch. We live in town and he has been before with friends from out of town. The meal they had last summer was amazing, and I really wish ours had been great today. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms, which were great, but for only four mushrooms, wish they were bigger compared to price. We ordered buffalo chicken wings and were served tenders. They were well cooked and flavored, but not what we expected when we ordered wings. Lastly, we ordered a chicken quesadilla. I was really looking forward to it as it’s a “customer favorite” on the menu. It arrived hot, smelled amazing, but when I bit into it there was an unexpected sweet crunch. Carrots, followed by celery, followed by broccoli, and topped off with zucchini. I am quite certain that this is not the same dish served to me that was a customer favorite. The odd veggies were really offputting. We inquired about the random veggies with our waitress, who humble mumbled and made some welcome to Maine comment. Uh, I’ve been in Maine for ten years and have never been served such an unexpected, unpleasant dish. She did not offer to return it, and she did not offer to reduce the price. I paid 18$ for a really unusual, offputting dish. I’d love to go back but will certainly not be ordering the...

My family has been coming to this restaurant every summer for twelve years. Today was by far the worst experience we have ever had at any restaurant in our lives. The waitress, Makaila, took our order and then never returned to the table for an hour and twenty minutes. We had to ask the hostess to refill the children’s water glasses and to check on our food. Meanwhile, the waitress went to the table of eight very drunk and very loud men right next to us at least ten times in the hour and completely ignored our table. When we finally got up and asked to speak to a manager after 90 minutes of zero food, drinks or service, the manager stated “what do you want me to do about it?”. There was no attempt to offer en explanation for the extensive wait, or even to see if we’d like more drinks, rolls etc. As someone who has worked in high end restaurants for over twenty five years- this was by far the worst service and the worst dining experience o have ever had. To make matters worse, when we finally got the food, the pasta dish was cold, the ribs burnt & dry, and the medium rare steah tips were well done. We don’t know what happened to this place but after twelve years we will never go back. The owner should be severely ashamed of how his staff behave to a family with...

We passed this place numerous times over the years but never stopped in. Well, today we stopped in and the food was great. Our app was the veggie nachos, very good. For meals, my stuffed crabmeat haddock was awesome, I’ll be back that’s for sure. My wife had the peppercorn burger, my daughter had the steak n cheese sub, and they both agree it was really good. The drinks were a spicy pineapple habanero margarita, which certainly brought the heat, awesome in our book. If you order it spicy, so it should be…. Atmosphere is really nice, horse themed, saddles, horse pictures, wrought iron booth partition trim, really nice to be here. Light background music 80’s-90’s was great to listen to during our meal. Certainly worth a trip again anytime. Like the wife just said, it’s so goood here. We had a great meal here, hope you visit and meal is tasty snd enjoyable as well.

Food was excellent. Fried pickles crispy and tangy, the pretzel appetizer was cooked just right. Entrees were very good. Fried seafood platter really surprised me. The breading was so light and fluffy, the scallops so tender they almost melted in my mouth, the shrimp cooked just perfect. And the fish...... So flaky and moist. Hubby got the fish and chips. The fish was so flaky and moist, yet not soggy. Crispy and fresh. They have a nice selection of local beers and ales. The Allagash white was excellent. Only two negative aspects were 1. I have onion allergy and an exceptional large part of menu (including soups and sides) I was unable to eat. 2. They are almost to light with the seasoning and salt. Overall excellent experience, would highly recommend and we will be going back!

We went to the Black Horse to celebrate a birthday after the Bridgton Christmas parade on Saturday night. The food was excellent and the service (Reagan and others) was exceptional! Each of our meals were perfect- the lightly fried oysters and onion strings were just that - lightly fried, delicious! The Blueberry salad with salmon was absolutely fantastic - blueberry vinagrette was perfect, salmon was grilled just right. The b-day girl had the Grecian chicken whihc was also cooked and seasoned exceptionally well. We were all very pleased with our meals. The pomegranate margarita was heavenly as was the pear rosemary martini!
