Went to Brielle House last Sunday (this was the old Whiskey Bar location) 630 pm the parking lot is almost empty, first flag First impression was the place was very recently painted, new white linen table cloths and crystal glasses on the tables. Had to seat ourselves second flag Ordered an appetizer called a pretzel tower, and drinks for the 2 of us A gentleman who I assume was either the manager or owner stopped by the table to chat. Asked if we had been there before and I indicated that only while it was the whiskey bar we used to come to get the prime rib. He was quick to recommend another restaurant for prime rib. My wife noted that he had prime rib on the menu there. Third flag The appetizer was three dried out and rewarmed Wawa styled pretzels served on what looked to be a paper towel holder that was set on a plate that was too small for the base. This meant that the the holder wobbled. We ordered two sushi rolls and a barbecued ribs entrie. The ribs was three individual pieces that looked like they were trimmed off the end of three different racks. They were dry, and somewhat overcooked. The sauce I'm pretty sure was regular sweet baby Ray's from a bottle. My wife and I each bit into one of the sushi rolls and it was so bad that we had to literally throw it away I understand the place is new, but the food was disgusting, and the fumes from the paint was nauseating. I absolutely will not...
Read moreVery mixed experience at Brielle House, a new bar and restaurant in Brielle in a familiar space. We went for drinks only and to see a band we follow, so we did not have an opportunity to eat. The menu actually looks very promising and we will probably try the food to give the place a second chance. The space itself seems much more suitable as a restaurant, not a bar or music venue. The night we were there was very crowded as the band that was playing is very popular and well known in this area. That being said, the set-up for the band was bizarre- the large band was crammed into a tiny space leaving very little space for customers. We went back to the bar to have drinks and could hear the band slightly in the adjacent bar room but the vibe was off for what we were looking for. It definitely wasn't worth the $15 cover for the band. On the bright side the bartenders were very hospitable and professional- the young man that handled us killed us with kindness even tho the whole place seemed confused and not really organized. Hopefully they get their sea-legs soon-...
Read moreHappy to see a new spot open in this location, hopefully it sticks! Outside looks great, it's easy to find and there is plenty of parking. Inside is expansive, I like they they have separate hosting spaces for large parties, seems like a good use of the space. Bartender was friendly. Menu has a good amount of options, we did not go for sushi (this time) but I would definitely like to try it in the future. Tandoori skewers were nice, pita was well seasoned and the lentil salad was a nice accompaniment. The Sal pizza was tasty, nice salty brine from the capers and olives to offset the cheese/sauce. Overall a good lunch, would definitely be back to try the sushi or raw bar. Hope this...
