Los Charros Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Broadway

I am ashamed to say that this jewel of a restaurant went without me eating there until yesterday (10/10)...and they've been there since 2014. I shall now pull a Roberto De Vincenzo, say it with me: "Oh what a stupid I am!"

I had the burrito de la Roqueta. After eating here it's as if no other Mexican restaurants even try to season their chicken. Superb blend of spices in the filling of chicken and onions. Pico de gallo, a ranchero sauce on the side (mole...less rich than some (i appreciate this)) and queso to top it off made this mixture of flavors not so much explode on your palate, but more like simmer in your skull.

Came with a tasty rice and the perfect texture of refried beans to cut the heat of their spicy salsa (available on request).

Can't wait to decide what will be next on my list!

Staff was wonderful and I made sure to tell the chefs when I was leaving that they had made my week by taking me back to Brownsville for a bit!

Follow up. Took my wife. Had the carnitas and they were absolutely stellar. If live anywhere within a 50 mile radius of this restaurant, like real Mexican food and you don’t eat here you are an absolute...

I literally just walked out of this place after having the rudest waitress ever. Her 2 words to me were "Your drink?". Not a hello, how are you, NOTHING. After coming back with the drinks, straws are thrown on the table. We still don't have menus. She comes back with 1 menu which she barely places on the table as she walks by with not a single word said to me or even a look at me. This is after having to wait for (apparently the only person in the restaurant who could seat a table) the cashier to check people out who came to the register well after we walked in. We didn't get a greeting and had to ask a passing by waitress for help. Her response was "only she can seat you". You mean the women who won't even say hello or acknowledge our existence? The place wasn't even that busy with lots of empty and dirty tables. Needless to say, we won't be back. Even Ay Toro is better than...

Waited at the door while employees walked around without acknowledging us. The when being sat the hostess pointed to a booth and said just sit there. The table was dirty, had to ask for it to be cleaned. We had no menus. The server was very nice. While waiting on the food to arrive the hostess was using profanity while cleaning tables around us. We had young children with us. The food was cold upon arrival. We ask that the corn be taken off the bill. We had boxed up all food and didn't eat at the restaurant. They refused to remove the corn.
