Upon walking in my girlfriend and I were not greeted by anyone. We had to find someone who was wrapping up to-go food to help us. He then called over an older gentleman, who seemed very confused, to seat us. The older gentleman couldnt understand why we were there and kept looking at the guy wrapping food like " what do they want?". We said we would like a table please. The other guy laughed in awkwardness. The decor inside the dinning area is nicely done and the chairs at the tables are surprisingly comfortable. We were served bread and water fairly quick. The crust of the bread was very hard and should have been our first indication the food may be off. Our waiter, same gentleman who sat us, was very casual. Belt hanging loose, a bit sloppy, didn't read any specials or anything. Just " are you ready?" For appetizers we ordered the mussels, which were very large. No problem there. Flavor was just OK. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about. The main course, eggplant pasta was a ridiculously small portion for $22. I couldn't believe it. I figured it must taste amazing to be that expensive and this small of a portion. It waa certainly not. Absolutely bland and void of any real flavors. I had my girlfriend try to make sure it wasnt just me and she whole heartly agreed. I NEVER add salt to my meals at restaurants however in this case I had to. No taste of garlic or herbs. Just eggplant, taste of pasta noodles and wet sauce and cheese to keep it together. On my worst days I make better pasta. My girlfriend has the tuna steak which was well done. The waiter never asked how she would like it cooked so we figured they must know to get it at a right tenderness. It was a jaw workout trying to eat this thing. I tried it too, as we like to share small portions of our meals. The veggies were not seasoned with anything and the risotto was sticky when it should be creamy and a bit loose but not watery. The tuna was also mild in flavor even with the Wasabi drizzle. I never went to culinary school although I know I could have made both meals better which I don't typically say. Maybe it was the chef in the kitchen that day, maybe not. We've been to countless restaurants in different states, seen and tasted many foods. I'm sorry but this place is below average especially for the price. Not worth...
Read moreI’ve been to Pulcinella and sat in the bar area a hand full of times. The food was very good and the staff was friendly. No complaints until today. We showed up with another couple and sat outside. We told the waiter we were only going to order coffee and dessert and asked if that was ok. He said yes but walked away shaking his head and mumbling. I’m sure he thought we were going to order dinner with drinks and he’d make a big tip so I wasn’t really surprised by his reaction. However, it was all down hill from there. He took out orders which consisted of 3 coffees, a martini, and 4 desserts. He came back with the martini and then we never saw him again. Another server brought 3 of our desserts, asked my husband what he order and then promptly brought him the wrong dessert. He ate it without complaints- it’s still a pandemic out there and people make mistakes. Then our coffees finally came out, cold and burnt. After we finished our food a server (not our waiter) came to fill out water and take our plates, we asked for the check. After waiting 40 minutes for the check and never seeing our waiter again, we went inside to ask for the check. Our waiter hadn’t put our order into the computer so we had to tell him what we ordered so he could print the check. He never came back to see if we needed change or if we were paying with a card. I know a lot of people in town love this place and I never had any complaints until now but I won’t be back for dinner...
Read moreThis is an interesting place with a local New England Italian restaurant vibe to it. Which makes sense. We drove a bit to get there, I was attracted by the Wood-Fired pizza oven. I was craving good, crispy Neapolitan pizza. We walked in, asked for a table, we were told that the dining room was too full to take us so they insisted on seating us in the bar. It was a nice comfortable booth, but the issue was the horribly out of tune lounge singer they had in there singing the greatest hits of the '50s through the '90s. Cheesy drum track, piped in background vocals and the guy just couldn't seem to hit any of the notes that he's strived for. If it weren't so loud, it wouldn't have been so bad. That's why I gave them only a three for the atmosphere. Dining room is probably very nice. Girlfriend had a delicious short rib and mushroom lasagna with cream sauce, I opted for a Wood-Fired pizza capricciosa. The pizza was, to my standards, pretty disappointing. Nothing special about the crust, and way too much cheese and toppings. Unbalanced and unspecial. I think that if a restaurant is going to go to the expense and trouble of having a Wood-Fired oven, the pizza they produce should honor it, and this pizza did not. The bread that they served at the table was probably typical for this kind of restaurant in this area, but I would describe it as having the texture of...
