Decor: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Service: 2 Price: 2 Food: 2.5 Overall: 3.1 My Experience: We walked in and the host told us to sit anywhere. We sat in a booth and the place was maybe half full, but probably less. There were a few servers in the corner talking and they kept looking over at us, but none of them ever came. We finally asked the bus boy if anyone was gonna help us. He ended up taking our drink orders which were brought to the table by another waitress. Then another waitress came and took our food order. It took about 10 minutes for them to finally take our order and there was as many waiters as there was occupied tables which kinda got us a little mad. The menu prices are also kind of crazy. You're gonna pay around $10 for a plate of chilaquiles, $13-$14 if you add chicken or beef, which is absolutely outrageous in a place like brownsville where you can get the same thing or better at basically every other Mexican restaurant for like $7 with meat added. We ordered the classic chilaquiles without the added chicken or beef because $10 was already crazy for a plate of chips and salsa basically. The plate was alright. They basically threw full sized uncut chips on a plate and dropped a bunch of salsa on them. The salsa had a nice kick to it and was flavorful enough. The cheese they put on it was a small amount so after you finish the top few chips, you're just eating chips soaked in salsa. The portion was small compared to other places as well. On the other hand my 2 year old got a huge plate of chicken tenders and fries for $5 while we are eating overpriced chips and salsa. I also ran out of coffee mid meal and our server was nowhere to be found. I 100% would not recommend for chilaquiles atleast. They are very basic and over priced.

My experience with my family was a good one. We entered the restaurant and were greeted by at least 3 different people. We were told to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat along the wall to the kitchen. After a few minutes, a waitress came and took our drink orders and left the menus . After 5 minutes, she came back to see if we were ready to order. I ordered the chilakillers, which were covered in Chipotle Salsa with crema and queso fresco, and they had a good kick to them. My wife ordered El chilakil that had Poblano sauce and queso fresco with crema. Our orders didn't take too long to come out less than 15 minutes. We ordered our 2 year old the kids' taco meal that was two tacos of bistek with just cheese. Both versions of the chilaquiles were very tasteful, and although I did enjoy them, they might be overpriced by a few bucks. Our waitress was nice, and she did come to check on us a few times. I just would add that she could have been a little more attentive that little extra effort goes a long way. They don't have styrofoam to go cups, which I hope they change, so in the future, you can take your agua fresca to go or soda that you didn't finish as well. I think some minor adjustments and they can elevate their status. From my experience I would recommend this restaurant.

The chilaquiles were bomb!!! The quesabirria and the consome were super tasty. Might be too much sodium for some people. When we went they were all out of aguas frescas so ask beforehand if they have any if you want a limonada lol. You can add an egg to your chilaquiles! But it's only on the side so you add it to the chilaquiles yourself. Generally good atmosphere. Everything that was a side was actually super delicious!

DO NOT EAT HERE! Went to eat breakfast and was shocked to see that they did not serve a plate like their namesake says " Chilaquiles" according to the waitress they could make a plate like what I wanted but everything was extra. When I asked her how much the plate would cost she did not know. I decided to order a chilaquiles plate with two eggs and give it a try. I was shocked to see when she brought the plate it included tortilla chips with what appeared to be only one egg that was undercooked and black beans. The portion was very Limited. I went ahead and spoke with the waitress and politely told her that I had never eaten this type of plate and it was different from other Mexican restaurants. She stated that hardly anybody ordered that plate and she was new to the restaurant. This appeared to be a special order plate and you would figure that they would have different versions of chilaquiles according to their namesake restaurant. While I was eating I noticed that she was speaking with another waitress who glance back at me with an evil stare and made me feel uncomfortable. Because I was very hungry I went ahead and ate but looking back I should have refused and just left. The waitress never came to ask me for a refill of my coffee and asked me if I was doing okay so I did not leave a tip. When I got up to pay the other waitress went to charge me and with horror I saw that the bill was almost $19 for that plate. She appeared very cold and rude with a monotone voice. I will never go back to this restaurant and recommended to all my family and friends not to even go there. Instead I recommend going to other restaurants that are much more affordable and the food quality and quantity is more such as Dona Carmens, Big Daddy's, and Emilia's. I'm going to make everybody aware through social media not to waste their money and their time going...
