Mi Casa Tradicion Casera — Restaurant in Brownsville

After several attempts, we booked the venue for a first communion lunch. Our option to book the venue for a private event was unavailable, so the owner suggested a section for 20 guests during normal operating hours would work for our needs. We gave our deposit, went over the details, and booked the event. A few days before owner called to confirm and go over a few details. She emphasized that we arrive on time, not early or late. The day of the event came, and ourselves and our guests arrived right on time, not a minute early not a minute late. Our section was not ready, no decorations as promised, and food was not there as it was being made off-site. The worst part is that half our guests were standing waiting for an entire hour. After an hour of standing and waiting, the owner arrived with the food and was served. Not only did she not apologize, but her son (co-owner) was in the restaurant's office since the beginning and was made aware of the situation, but not once showed face to apologize or remedy the situation. The wait staff was apologetic and compensated for the lack of professionalism from the owners. During the booking, we expressed our concerns about the space availability during our booked time slot. The owner reassured us it would be fine and the area would be reserved ahead of time. Even after being told to be on time and arriving on time, we had guests standing and waiting for their food for an hour. An entire hour of us feeling embarrassed and apologizing to family and friends for the situation. We left that place with no intention of doing business with them in the future and we hope they provide better...

I enjoy trying new places to eat in Brownsville on the weekend with my sister. I go through Maps and pick a restaurant with good reviews and yummy looking food pics. This place has great reviews and beautiful pictures. My sister and I, however, will not be returning. The food is very decent, though the flavors seemed muted. That's the best word I can think to describe the food. Nothing really shined or came through as we ate. We only ate a few bites and brought everything home for my son who will eat anything. He, however, said the same thing: "Something is missing." The service was indifferent. I never got offered a refill on my coffee. The chips for the beans and chips appetizer were so small and broken, we couldn't use them to scoop up the food. It's like we got what was at the bottom of a bag of just leftover chips. Our server was efficient but not friendly. Perhaps she was in a hurry or had another duty to fulfill even though there were only 3 tables. The decor is insta-worthy, for sure. Even if we did not enjoy our visit, I'm glad we tried it out and crossed it off our list of places to try. On to the next restaurant...

I love this place but its a 3.5 out of 5 since theres no 3.5 i chose 4 because to me the positives of this place overcome or balances any negative. Which is not bad, out of 10 its a 7.5 The food is delicious but not always consistent it always tastes good but not always the same. My favorite plate doesn’t always tastes the same is what i mean but similar and still good. The service is great in some things for example everyone is super nice but every time i go they don’t come to ask if we need anything we always have to call them and also when we are about to pay as well. They do come take your order without having to call them, when they give you your food they ask if everything is okay and then they don't come anymore. Which i don't mind but some people do. The atmosphere is so nice! Its amazing insta worthy and everything!! So over all its a 3.5 out of 5 but it can definitely be a 5 out of 5 if the food was a little more consistent in taste and if they were to come at least once to as if we need anything. Over...
