I like this place. It's been in Brownsville forever. I haven't been since i was a kid, and the carpet and furniture are still the same. That said, it's still a nice solid seafood place. Definitely NOT Marisco (Mexican style seafood). It has classics as shown in the menu. We all ordered different dishes to try a few things. We enjoyed all the food. This is small town seafood (and we now live in Dallas for reference), not a fancy place. Simple and small menu. The food tastes homemade which is great. Fish sandwich on toast was good. A real / normal portion and the fried fish was done well.

Broiled Shrimp was also a good normal portion. Tasted similar to some shrimp scampi, just much less buttery.

The stuffed shrimp was big and very filling. The crab stuffing had some green/bell pepper in it?? It was different and good.

I didn't try the seafood soup, but the 2 people in our group who did finished it all up. Nothing left at all.

We also ordered oysters. They were good and fresh. They even included a monster sized one that was the size of my plate. Yes, some shells look small, but the oyster covered the entire shell. I've been to other big city chains where the small oysters are small.

Finally, the staff is just laid back and friendly. Great to be...

RUDEST manager/Owner ever! We went to Oyster Bar II to have a bowl of fish soup and a couple of fish tacos. We ordered a shrimp cocktail to start and was lacking shrimp and was basically a bowl of ketchup. We asked the waitress if she could do anything and went to ask the manager, and he literally sent us ONE shrimp on a plate saying that's the best he could do.

Needless to say how insulting that was, I told the waitress that I wasn't going to pay for that cocktail. I told her to have the manager come talk to me if he wanted to, but we weren't going to pay for a ketchup soup. He comes out and accusing us of changing our story about how many shrimp were in there as if we were scamming them for extra shrimp. I told him I could go buy my own shrimp at HEB if that was the case, and he walked off telling me to go ahead.

At that point, we told him we were leaving, and he tried to block the door and told us he was going to call the police....all of this over 6 SHRIMP!!!

It is no wonder their establishment is empty and we really did like their food before. Good luck keeping your doors open with rude service like that!!! We will never be...

Sat. April 10, 2021 Place phone large order take out for a party of 5. Unbelievable but true and have my receipt for proof! $93.43 My meals were 4 orders of the 11 count of shrimp. I was embarrass to see shrimp bite size like chicharrones and over cooked, and redish colored. This is my 3rd year eating from from this Oyster Bar II. Last year I recall big shrimp with a brownish color and the french fries over flown on my plate! These french fries were hard and dried and counted 12. Maybe this pandamic affect take out at this Oyster Bar II Restaurant. This was my 3rd year eating food from this Oyster Bar II. Since I'm from out of town. Next year God willing NO MORE EATING FOOD FROM THIS RESTAURANT. MY BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS NOT OPENING THOSE FOOD TRAYS TO CHECK WHAT I WAS PURCHASING. BUT, ON THE OTHER HAND I PLACED MY TRUST AS PREVIOUS YEAR'S ON THIS OYSTER BAR II RESTAURANT IN BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS. 1 STAR RATING FROM ME FOR A GOOD SALAD & 2 DINNER ROLLS.

meals were 4

Just checked out Oyster Bar II on Paredes Line Rd in Brownsville — and wow 👀 this place is a vibe! 💙 They’ve totally remodeled it with that vintage 1970s seafood-joint look — super cool, cozy, and retro. I tried the fried fish — light, crispy batter, flaky inside, and full of flavor. 🐟🔥 If you love seafood and classic Brownsville spots with history, this one’s a must-visit. 🙌 📍 153 Paredes Line Rd, Brownsville, TX 78521 #BrownsvilleEats #OysterBarII #SeafoodLovers #RGVFoodie #thebrownsvilleguy

Yikes! …prices are much higher than when I was here less than two years ago, and be aware that the prices shown on their online menu are NOT current. They also now charge extra for that small baked potato that used to be part of the combo meals. I still love their fried shrimp meal (11 shrimp w/ tiny salad) but it cost me $20 (with potato & taxes) for the takeout version so I’ll likely hesitate to stop by again anytime soon. Too bad… I’ve been visiting this place every time I’ve visited Brownsville for many years.
