Tacos Al Vapor Estilo Monterrey — Restaurant in Brownsville

HORRIBLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE! One star only cause I need it to post. The food was delicious, however the service was horrendous! First of all, the waitress was not very friendly. When asked if she could add an additional table as more people were coming, her bad facial expression said it all. When she brought the order of 4 tacos de vapor, I asked her if I could have the order of 6 (which would be an additional 2), she then got my paper foam plate and stated that she would have to put them in the same plate. When I asked if she could just bring the me the additional two in a separate plate, she said she would have to charge me twice. (For paper foam plates that are 0.97 cents for a pack if 40 at HEB). She then proceeded to take my plate and later returned with the total of 6. To top it off it took 30 minutes to get the order again. (for the two additional taquitos de vapor). THEN.... I asked her if she could charge my order as we were wrapping up, very rudely she said... "Aya le cobra el joven,... and pointed to an empty register counter".

Very rude lady.

The tacos here are delicious. They give you an order of 6 and they have many different fillings. I usually get the chicken and carne deshebrada. The order fills you up and actually feels like it's more than you need. The prices here are very good as well. An order of 6 tacos will run you about $6 and it comes with onions and cabbage. I paid a total of $8 including the drink. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because this place is in desperate need of an upgrade. I mean, one whole wall has a black plastic tarp over it for God knows what reason, who knows what's on the other side of it. The staff seems like they're bored and don't really pay you much attention. It's a shame because if these small issued were fixed this place...

Note: this review is based on the workers/service alone. Food itself is delicious. Beware that there is no detailed receipts given at this restaurant. Meaning you don't see how much you're paying for every item. I was getting charged $10 more for "someone else's tortas." Glad I asked for a detailed tab. First time I asked the young man said, "we don't give those out" so I told him...just write it out then. And that's when they found their error. Also, if you ordered Togo and are going to pay with a card when picking up your food. Be prepared that 8/10 times the man will stare at you while you sign the transaction receipt. Tactic they use to apply pressure in order to get a tip....
