Nolita NY Pizza — Restaurant in Brownsville

It’s the first time I wasn’t able to finish a slice of pizza. Made Cici’s tolerable. Overpriced beer. Pizza dog is okay though.

Update to Owner: First of all, as a business owner, your response is very unprofessional if you’re speaking passive aggressively and making excuses as to why your food is not good. You made my pizza dog recommendation invalid here.

Second of all, you obviously must have confused me with someone else because I was a one-time paying customer in May 2023 when I went with my wife and child as a sober family man during the day and ordered one $8 beer, no mention or discount of happy hour. I left a review more than a month ago since one of my best friends went to your establishment around that date (not the drunk customer you’ve described either) and agreed with my valid criticism then told me to submit it. Your accusation towards me is completely and unnecessarily false; getting triggered by a negative review reveals how you think the customer is wrong and have no real customer service. This is true based on your response to another one star review.

Third of all, I’m a local business supporter, and you’re telling me that I shouldn’t go to your restaurant ONE HOUR before closing time because your food will not be of the highest quality??? That means I should inform other locals not to support your business a whole hour before you close because they wouldn’t be eating fresh pizza. Apparently, atmospheric aesthetics make up for lack of food quality. Good to know! Why would I return and spend money on a rude owner based on this information you’ve provided?

I’m not one to expressively voice my opinion on Google Reviews; however, your response was genuinely upsetting and uncalled for. My suggestion is instead of putting the blame on customers who are eagerly awaiting to experience good food and service, you should own up to your actions and take all constructive feedback into consideration in order to improve where you lack for full customer satisfaction, like a professional...

The service was 5 stars or more, but it seems like the owner was going out of his way to ask of everything was OK. I love that, but as you scale it is hard to continue that. You have to let the reigns go and eventually trust your staff. I'm originally from Chicago, so I prefer a Chicago tavern style pie. No one in the valley makes them to my expectation but they try at Scalisis, Mama's, Mamá Mías, and Cordons all in the McAllen area. I do enjoy the crispy crust on some NY slices though. This pizza however lacks flavor and bite. I could hardly taste the sauce and the cheese was bland. The crust was absolutely perfect, though. Seating is limited, but that's OK starting out. They may outgrow the location. Next point is soda in cans. I don't like this. I prefer fountain drinks. With big cups, such as you'll find at Big Daddy's. On a busy day it's less the waitress has to worry about and less the patron has to pay, but the margins on soda cans has to be great for the bottom line. Last, I thought they had mozzarella sticks and they didn't we were hungry and wanted a good appetizer. Menu seems limited but there is a bunch of alcohol. First Arrived and Was told it was going to be a 1 Hour wait which we understood and got on the wait list got a booth with 25min. Once we got seated never recived menus so we had to look it up online. Was told again by waitress that food will take about 1 hour. After we found the menu ourselves and ordered its took almost 2 hours for just a pizza. During the time we were waiting other people arrived and got thier food first than us. Our waitress came and blamed the kitchen that our order was lost instead of an apology or offer something for the wait she just said “ Well I warned you guys about the wait” an apology would have went a long way I do understood it was really busy but her other tables arrived later and got food as well received a menu. There was 2 Waitresses but only 1 seemed attentive of her tables and seemed to have great customer service but not our waitress. Other than that our Pizza was very good and the environments was great.
