Solid lil' pizza shop. Cash & credit cards accepted. Indoor & outdoor seating.
If the name didn't make it clear, pizzas are king here. And they're good pizzas with a surprisingly crisp crust even though they aren't thin-crust pizzas. Their special is piled with toppings - definitely not skimpy.
In addition to pizzas they offer a variety of pasta dishes, salads and sandwiches. Honestly, the spaghetti didn't look very appetizing to me but my compatriots seemed to enjoy it. Garlic bread was light and not overly greasy while still packing plenty of garlicky/buttery flavor. Their house salad was disappointing - just iceburg lettuce (primarily) with a healthy topping of mozzarella cheese and some tomato slices. Nothing very inspiring but it wasn't bad. Accompanied with a tasty vinegar or ranch salad dressing and enough to serve 6--7 people.
Staff was all very friendly and service was prompt. A variety of soft drinks as well as water and beer & wine.
One of the least expected and most enjoyable aspects of the atmosphere was their small collection of classic arcade games in their original cabinets, along with one newer pinball machine. Great for the kids I'm sure but more fun for the adults frankly, if you remember playing Ms. Pacman or Area 51...
Read moreOne of the best experiences we've ever had! We went to Gino's 30 minutes before they closed with 11 people. They were gracious enough to let us order 3 large pizzas even though they were already starting to clean up for closing One of the girls was feeling under the weather and wanted soup, and we couldn't find anyplace that was open that served soup in town. I asked the manager if he knew of a place that we could get her soup and he told us to get some at Albertsons and that they would heat it up for her. Not only did they heat it up, they also served it with a couple pieces of toasted bread as well. This was above and beyond what the staff needed to do and we were more than appreciative. Then as we were gathering up our belongings to leave, the manager and a couple other employees come to us with a brand new bottle of NyQuil and hoped that it would help her feel better. This was truly unexpected! We felt more like family than patrons in this establishment that we had only been in for 25 minutes. Can’t express my gratitude more. Thank you to Gino’s manager and staff that went way above the normal...
Read moreHonestly I can't speak to service or atmosphere. 5 years ago my husband and I stayed at the sideways inn, and after a day if wine tasting we opted for pizza and hot tub in the evening. We ordered here, obviously, and loved it. Even cold it was good. Fast forward to today and my husband is in solvang area picking up a wine order. I text him and say "remember that pizza we had at sideways inn? We should get that for dinner." He said "I was just thinking the same thing." With no further prodding, he ordered a veggie pizza with a garlic sauce and mushrooms and spinach and artichoke. He drove it all the way back to Castaic and stowed it away until I got home from work. We toasted it for 7 minutes in the oven to warm it up. And dude. Sooooo stinking good. Crispy outer crust but still chewy with a slightly salty slightly sweet flavor. Generous toppings, good cheese (not gross wax). Both of us eating it exclaimed how awesome the crust is. Probably one of my favorite pizzas ever. I will order here again. I wish my hubs got 2 pizzas...
