I started going to Comedy Sportz as a teenager to see one of my teachers perform. Since then, I have been happy to call myself a loyal fan. When I was living in Utah, I was ecstatic to see that Comedy Sportz also played there!
After the pandemic and moving back to Buffalo, I was so happy to find out that Comedy Sportz was still happening at the Community Center. I went to shows when I was able to and was excited to hear the news that they were getting a new venue here at Chandler street! It has such a laid-back vibe in the bar and seating area, as well as the patio.
All that said, the show itself is the most important part, and I can say emphatically that going to Comedy Sportz is always a blast! Every show is unique, as it is entirely improvisational. It's always fun to see familiar players from when I was a teen, as well as seeing all the new hilarious talent on stage! Every time I head home, my side always hurts from laughing too much. The energy the players bring is infectious!
If you are looking for local comedy in Buffalo, Comedy Sportz is the best place, as they are consistent, unique, and gut-bustingly funny! (Also, it's clean, so bring the whole family!). Go see a show, become a loyal fan, grab your popcorn, and get ready for a memorable, hilarious show at...
Read moreI’ve been taking classes with Buffalo Comedy Collective for over a year and can’t say enough good things. Scott and Meghan are wonderful owners and instructors — they’re knowledgeable, encouraging, and make the learning environment both supportive and fun. I’ve completed Improv 101 and 201 (took 101 a couple of times!) and each experience has been a chance to grow alongside an amazing group of students.
Through these classes, I’ve gained confidence, practiced “first thought, best thought” thinking, and strengthened my ability to think on my feet instead of overplanning. It’s even helped me work through brain fog after a health journey. Watching others develop their improv personas has been just as inspiring as my own growth. I highly recommend taking a class or attending a show — it’s a great way to support local performers while building community...
Read moreHave been to ComedySportz shows several times over the years. The new space on Chandler Street is perfect! Not a bad seat in the house. The players are quick, clever, silly, and funny. As an audience member, you can be as involved as you like to be. Shout out suggestions (when invited to do so by the ref) or maybe even get on stage as an audience volunteer. (No one in the audience is ever called on specifically or individually unless you volunteer yourself - so no need to be anxious if you're like me and hate to be put on the spot in public.)
CsZ offers both all-ages and 18+ shows, so select the best option for you. Kids are welcome at the all-ages shows which are very family-friendly.
Big ups to the refs who keep things moving along at a quick pace and encourage the audience and players alike.
Highly recommend for a...
