Starting off I am thrilled to hear the this restaurant opened and stayed in the same family as I was a frequent go-er of Charlie O'Breins (the previous restaurant that occupied 865 elk street!) Upon walking in, it was so nice to see all the refreshing touches they did internally while keeping some of the nostalgia of the old restaurant like the fireplace and back dining room. The hostess station seemed a bit disorganized, but me and the other 2 in my party were seated within 10 minutes around 6:30 dinner rush. Our server Lily had a very positive and professional attitude and was a pleasure to have. She was also kind enough to extend her personal recommendations from the menu which was helpful! Our drinks from the bar were well served and were made nicely! Both available soups on the menu were tried, being the French onion and the roasted red pepper soup. While the red pepper soup was good, the french onion was a favorite of the table and would be the choice upon return! For entrees, we ordered the Beef Ragu and Scallop Risotto. The beef ragu was a large portion and was very tasty (8/10) the scallop risotto was perfect for 2 to split, the sweet pea risotto was a nice spin on the dish although was minorly disappointed 2 of the 4 scallops were slightly overcooked on the outside. (7.5/10) We decided to try 3 of the 4 desserts offered on the menu consisting of chocolate Ganache cake, creme brulee, and tiramisu. All 3 were delightful and fresh. The table favorite was the creme brulee, which would be the other recommended dish. We will definitely back to explore more of the tasty menu The Riverfield 865 has to offer. Another hidden gem in...
Read moreThis is being generous. Trying to get service was like pulling teeth. Had to basically raise my hand as if I was in a classroom. Yet there was only three people seated at the bar. Ordered soup… it was $10 for a tiny cup of soup. Most expensive nasty soup I’ve ever had. Spoon was dirty and there was hair in it. I worked in restaurants before so I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt considering they just opened .. but who doesn’t look at their silverware before giving it to a customer to use?! We left after that because the menu wasn’t it. This is south buffalo… not Amherst. We want cheap pub food and good beer. You’re doing too much and it’s not gonna work. I hope others have a better experience than I did, best of luck to the owners because I’d hate to see a business fail honestly. Really hope they can make a...
Read moreAfter multiple visits to Riverfield, I’ve finally gathered a full opinion on the place. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife, who went above and beyond to ensure my party and I had a satisfying experience.
The portion sizes are generous and will leave you perfectly full. While the food took a little time to come out, it was well worth the wait. The care and effort from the kitchen crew were evident in every bite. The owner is clearly fostering an inviting atmosphere, which is commendable given how hard it is to find good staff these days!
Additionally, the parking lot has been completely redone. It is very spacious and offers easy accessible parking. I plan on coming here again, and even if I move out of Buffalo, I will make it a point to visit! Riverfield is a hidden...
