"Welcoming atmosphere." Yeah, right. I've been to the coffeeshop a few times and my experience has been lackluster, to say the least. The matcha is decent but extremely inconsistent. I know I am in a cafe located in the heart of Burbank, so my expectations for good matcha are low. At times, I have been pleasantly surprised, but recently, I have not enjoyed my time there. My biggest issue is the customer service—or lack thereof. I try not to complain or demand as I don't want to come across as a "Karen". However, my recent encounter left a bad taste in my mouth. I came by today approximately 30 mins to closing time, the place was thinning out, and lots of tables were available. The cashier acted rudely, to say the least. It's not a personal attack but just an observation. She was unfriendly and barely looked up at me. The only time she did look up was when I answered her in the same off-putting tone, essentially matching hers. I don't believe "the customer is always right," as it's untrue and often is used to coddle demanding and rude customers at the expense of the employees. However, I did not act rudely towards her; therefore, it did not warrant a rude interaction. The drink was also unpleasant. I ordered matcha with cold foam, and there was BARELY any foam + it was an extremely diluted and sweet matcha. I point it out because I've ordered this drink before, and it was quite good. Maybe it was because I came less than an hour before closing time, which I try not to do at any businesses. However, this was not an isolated incident. There was another time when the person taking my order acted unnecessarily rude as well. While I am not the most chit-chatty person, I always greet and make small talk. The times I've gone and the owners were working have been pleasant; the other times, they have not. I recommend coming for the coffee IF you're in the area and have nowhere else to go. This is NOT a going-out-of-your-way spot. Skip this place if you want to study, as there's minimal space with outlets and it's cramped. It's a charming place, I suppose, but not worth the $9 dollar matcha, limited parking, and incredibly rude staff. Ridiculous. There are better places in the valley with quality matcha at a reasonable price.
This place is mediocre at BEST. I definitely won't be returning!
EDIT: Your staff has multiple complaints regarding poor customer service. I can see you make no effort to change it. I never once stated it was a bad place and should not be visited. As I did state, I have gone MULTIPLE times because it's a charming place nearby with occasionally good matcha/coffee. However, the inconsistency is my biggest issue alongside the unpleasant staff. For two drinks, I spent $20. I think people who consider coming by have a right to know. I did not intend to "publicly tear down" a small business, however if that is how you received my honest review--that is not my problem. I greeted your staff with a friendly tone in the beginning, but their lack of acknowledgement was uncalled for so I responded with the same tone. I don't expect pleasantries 30 mins before closing time but that DOES NOT warrant a rude reception. Other customers came after me closer to closing time and were received better. I do agree, I should have voiced any concerns about my drink but I was made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome--why would I return? I don't want a free drink, I want to be treated fairly. Again, this interaction was not an isolated incident, it has occurred multiple times. For that reason, I felt compelled to leave a review because I've given this place the benefit of the doubt. I enjoy supporting family run small businesses but that does not exempt you from criticism. It also does not mean I can't share MY personal experience. Your response is disappointing and telling on how you poorly run...
