Went there at 8pm on a Saturday to get some food and drinks. It was almost empty, 6 patrons were there; 2 at a table, 4 at the bar. We walked in and sat at a table near the other couple. The only server came to the table next to us and picked up their plates. We waited for a few minutes then I got up to go get menus from the bar, no big deal. I got the menus and went back and sat down at the table. Then behind me I hear the server yelling at me (not in a mean way, the music was loud), "I need to check your ID". I thought, "that's odd that she wouldn't just check when she came to take the order but, oh well". I went up there and gave her my ID but she says, "I need your wife's ID also". So I go back to the table grab my wife's ID and went back to the bar to give it to her. Then she says, "No, she needs to come up here also. It's a state law." We're both over 40 and very aware of what the law about alcohol and drinking age is. I don't think the law says anything about coming up to the bar to be carded specifically. I go back to the table (now my 4th or 5th time going back and forth) and ask my wife to come up with me. We go back to the table and a few minutes later the server again yells across the room, "You have to order at the bar, there is no table service here." If that was the case, she could have mentioned that one of the five times I'd already been at the bar or there should be signs on all the tables. I think she was just being lazy because they were not busy at all. I've been there a few times and really wanted it to be my neighborhood hangout but the service is lacking, food is average, and this last episode could have been handled better. I'll wait a few months and try it again but I'm not holding my breath...
Read moreEdited to respond to owner.: I wasn't concerned about her steeling my husband. . It's a common practice for servers/bartenders to be personable, happy and a little flirty with customers in order to get good tips and repeat customers. Her actions were strange.and off putting. I'm glad for you she doesn't work there anymore. And she recognized him from a different establishment than the Sunnydale , so apparently she doesn't stay long at any job. You can thank Google for reminding me of my visit and asking if I had any comments, even over a year later. I thought you should know why we have never returned. Bad employees can turn away customers even if your food is good and your atmosphere friendly. You ridiculing my review does nothing to encourage me to return to your bar.
Weird strange service. When this place first opened up, my husband and I tried it out. That night, the blond (with multicolored ends) woman bartender waited until I went to the restroom to (my guess) ensure a good tip. I saw her out of the corner of my eye rushing from behind the bar to our table (no one else was seated in that section at the time). She actually sat down in the chair I was using to tell my husband that she recognized him from another bar. She even remembered his drink. My husband is no stud and I was gone all of two minutes. When she saw me heading back to my table, she leapt up and hurried back to the bar. Silly bartender, I pay our restaurant checks. We have never returned...
Read moreI gave 3 cuz the prices were great. Service was good for a sports bar. It was really loud because they had the game on though there was no outdoor smoking area anymore. You have to leave through the front door to smoke. Which would be great if they didn't already have a back outdoor area that you can take your drinks to. Seems like we are being weeded out more and more. Wonder how the pinball place is doing? We were told to put on masks while playing pool with my date. There were 4 other tables full that were sitting around and no one else had their masks on. Not was I aware that any of them were even asked to follow suit.
Step up the game folks. I live right down the street. I would and will easily spend a few hundred bucks there every month. Pull back a few feet of that astro turf enough for at least a smoking area or put a gate out back so we don't have to walk all the way around. I might as well go across the street to at that point.
The pagoda looks great. I like the idea of live music. Invest in some new pool balls and have your pool tables cleaned inside and out. Your felt on them is good for a few more seasons at most.
If you guys could handle even some of these things I'll come back more often. I don't want to say I'll never be back, though a few changes would keep me coming back in instead of saying "no" right off the bat and going somewhere else or just o the liquor store across the street then to home.
I hope this...
