I've driven by Smokies for years and never stopped in. From the outside it does look a little shady, but personally I like that. Sometimes you find the best food in places you wouldn't expect it.
I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger, fries, and jalapeno poppers, and it all came out to under $20. The gentleman working there was very friendly, food prep was quick, and everything came in a single bag. Customer service was 10 times better than you would find at Cafe Rio.
Fries were big and crispy, jalapeno poppers were popping, and the burger actually had some weight behind it. The bacon on the burger was backed up with a hardy amount of vegetables, but nothing too overbearing, you know what I mean? Like it was a big chunk of tomato, big chunks of onion, but everything complemented itself very well and, despite what it might look like, I can eat some food. I mean like I can eat some FOOD, if you know what I mean.
I'm a fat boy at heart, is what I'm saying. I wasn't able to finish everything. For under $20, to have a good cooked meal, and my book you can't beat that.
5 out of 5would let Smokey Char-Broil my burger...
Read moreLow quality bland food. Portions are small when it comes to onion rings and fries.
Today was the first time I had eaten here and these are the 5 takeaways from my visit.
Onion rings are frozen and very bland. BK has better onion rings. Cheese sticks are your standard generic grocery store type. My Philly cheesesteak has little steak. Bread was actually good though. Tasted pretty good though. Best thing of my visit. My girlfriend gave me a bite of her cheeseburger and it was bland, pretty tasteless. The bun was toasted on both sides to the point it was tough like it was stale. French fries has no seasoning what so ever. Very bland.
Two bonus takeaway.
they had our food under a warmer for about 5-8 min because they haven't mastered the concept of cooking things that take longer first vs cooking everything from the start together. This included French fries, onion rings and mozzarella sticks.
They have no idea what...
Read moreA interesting place... I stopped in here across the street from haggens and spotted this Burger joint and didn't want to eat at subway...from what i read from the other reviews,it isn't too far from the truth...i ordered the cheeseburger with a side of fries...the prices are Great, the fries did taste a bit cardboardy, but were big and the burger wasn't chaired as good as i hoped and was small...the atmosphere is absolutely awful and you can see graffiti and carvings on the walls and tables like it is a public bathroom unless you eat outside, they really need to paint that over...however,it is a good burger joint and they are Mexican, but it is understandable...what this place needs is a remodel!...
