Fantastic food, everything down to the ketchup and ranch is homemade! The bartender, Alice, was an absolute pleasure to talk to, a true professional with a plethora of experience and an equally impressive repertoire of fascinating stories to tell. If you had ever been there when it was the Palace, it will be nearly unrecognizable! Everything has been redone and updated from the addition of a pool table and shuffleboard court, to the archives of old local historical documents adorning the wall, lending the location it's namesake. The owners, Sam and Chef Gary, ever respectful of the building's history, have even repurposed a section of the old bowling alley floor as the countertop for the food service window. Hidden in every nook and crany is some new discovery, or nod of the hat to tradition and local history. Whether you encounter Alice, working furiously to exceed expectations and earn her next (well deserved) raise two-fold over, or Sam as she, with seeming effortlessness, wrangles in and controls the more rambunctious patrons whom have already staked their claim to a barstool, in for the long haul, or Chef Gary, as he toils away in the kitchen, pouring his heart and soul into every hand crafted decadent morsel of excellence, all while singing away happily, you are sure to have an excellent, nearly life changing experience. As an added bonus, when the conditions are just right, you may even be lucky enough to hear, ever so faintly, an angelic vibrato floating out of the kitchen. Absorb and enjoy it, for in that moment you have the honor and privilege of experiencing Chef Gary, in the zone, crafting you new favorite food. This is truly a magical place, and welcome addition to downtown Burlington. I can't recommend it enough. You NEED to try it!

Update 3/25: Great, responsive staff. Always someone asking if you are OK. I love it. Wife had the steak sandwich. The sweet onions really accent the steak very well. Excellent bun, coming from a low-carb girl Grilled chicken was juicy and tasty. Take a look at the pics and you will see fresh food. Even the sauces are home made. Everyone is so nice here. Super helpful. Go here as soon as possible. I give it a 5 star. —-------------------- A nice upgrade from the previous owners. The dining room has been updated and the seating much more reasonable. The food was excellent. Get the cheese curds, #1. The fish fry was great and I had the fried chicken sandwich, adding bacon and the spicy mayo. The fries were crispy, as requested, and tasty. I doubt you'll find anything bad on this menu. The service was excellent but I again didn't get her name. From what I saw they're all very good. If you are in burlington you need to try this place, if you can find a spot to sit... They're busy!

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. My friend and I came in after the lunch rush, hoping to grab a quick burger and some wings while we waited for jewelry to be repaired. From the moment we walked in, the service was lackluster. The waitress barely acknowledged us, didn’t make eye contact, and after a while, reluctantly asked if we had been helped.

We were told no tables were available, but I pointed out one that we had passed on our way in. After being seated, we waited nearly 40 minutes before checking in about our food. At that point, we were told it would be "a little bit longer" but never received any updates or apologies for the delay.

Throughout the experience, the waitstaff didn’t seem to care at all. Our drinks were never refilled, and when we inquired about the food, the response was essentially, "What do you expect? We’re busy." It felt like we were a burden, and we were never offered any kind of explanation or apology.

After waiting some more without any food, we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. One of the patrons at the bar actually apologized on behalf of the restaurant, which was nice, but it didn’t make up for the poor service.

I understand places get busy, but a little courtesy and respect go a long way, and this place completely...
