It’s been a long time since we’ve dined and now I remember why! We love supporting local businesses and when in the area we elected to stop here for breakfast/brunch. They do offer patio seating but it sits next to the street which can be noisy from traffic so we asked for inside seating. The seating area is small with a faux wall fireplace going on the first day of July. Not sure what that was about but certainly did not add any ambience given the recent heat and humidity. After being seated it took about 10 minutes for service although we were the only customers inside. There were others on the patio. We noted a table of six snd another couple so not terribly busy. When we were approached it was by the sweet young lady who had seated us. She did apologize for the wait and said she had just been told she was to provide service to us as well. Breakfast options are standard w the exception of the goetta planks which, iykyk. They offer biscuits and gravy but our server admitted that neither are prepared in house. I ordered granny’s special which includes two eggs, one slice of toast of your choice, wheat or white, two slices of bacon or sausage and home fries. I asked for eggs over medium, no runny whites please. The eggs were destroyed by the cook! Both yolks and whites were cooked to hard as rocks. The sausage were generously sized but appear to be replicas of the sausage offered in the free breakfast offered at low end motels. Generic mystery meat without no taste whatsoever. The home fries, while obviously frozen and quick fried, were crunchy and hot. Sadly the highlight of the meal. Since the eggs and sausage were inedible I asked for an extra slice of toast and jam. Twenty minutes later I received. One piece of toast cost $3.75. The jam is the little premade rectangular packages from some brand I’ve never seen before. It was mostly sugar w very little fruit flavor. My partner ordered a ham and cheese omelet. It too was hammered by the cook, hard and rubbery. It too came with the home fries and a single piece of toast.
In summary, we both are very little besides our toast and part of the home fries. It was an expensive meal and one we are unlikely to repeat. We want to support local business but local business needs to support their cost to the paying customer. Quality never fails in the...
Read moreUpdate: Had given this restaurant a 1 star due to our previous experience below, and the restaurant reached out and gave me a gift card to return. Finally made that trip back this morning for breakfast. Again immediately sat and hostess was amazing. However this time our server was there very quickly and she was great. Food all arrived quickly and was correct, more importantly delicious. Every place has its bad days and its how those are handled that's important. WS handled the issue and our return trip was exactly how it should have been. Will be back again soon.
Second time in, first was just my wife and I a few months ago and food was great and service was good.
A completely different experience this morning. Arrived at 915a with my wife and two toddlers. Immediately greeted and sat, hostess even got our girls large coloring books. We then sat and waited for our server for drinks and so on. When we were seated a group of local FFs was wrapping their table and only had drinks, a few two tops and a four top were also in our area. Wait staff appeared to be one younger girl and another lady as well as a young man from the inside portion. They were not busy. We sat well over 15 min, almost 20 and we're ignored. They sat another family right before we left and they immediately received attention and drinks. Another server waited on a two top behind us that was sat after us and proceeded to chat them up instead of waiting on us. We made eye contact with the hostess and one server a couple of times.
I'm not going to beg to be served, if t u ey were slammed I would have understood. Trying to support local but at almost 20 min my toddlers and myself had enough.
Cracker Barrel immediately sat us, drinks in the table within 5 min and they are very busy.
WSC lost any future business from us or...
Read moreWe went to Washington Square tonight to eat dinner with our family for Father's Day. My 13 year old daughter and her boyfriend say at a table by them selves since my we had 6 at our table. The owners boyfriend proceeded to tell my daughter that they look like stoners and accused them of being on heroin. After realizing they were with us and being confronted by my husband and father he admitted he was wrong and had no reason to treat them that way. The owner did nothing to handle the situation or apologize for the actions of her friends. I will never EVER return to that restaurant to spend my hard earned money at a place that treats their customers like that. It was absolutely ridiculous, demeaning and down right harassment. By far, the WORST place I have ever been to. Be warned and don't waste your time or your money on people who treat...
