Me and my new girlfriend initially came here on our first date couple months back and had a really Pleasant dinner, the environment was nice, was a little frustrated that they had trouble simply doing a split plate request but other than that, it was a fine experience
Chose the spot specifically because of that experience for a initial meeting of my girlfriend's adult daughter and her new fiance.
Her daughter was only available around 1:00 on Sunday 21st 2024, which worked out since the restaurant said they were open till 3:00, we have plenty of time to eat and socialize.
Dinner was pleasant, noticed the majority of the crowd had left by the time we were finishing our meal at 2:00, and immediately at two one of the bus ladies asked abruptly if they could get us to go boxes.. it felt very intrusive as the conversation was intimate and we were still eating, told the young lady that we were still eating, and shortly thereafter she came back and started clearing plates but did so in a way made me feel as if she was agitated..
Shortly thereafter our actual server came up and asked again if we needed to go boxes, at this point I said you are open until 3:00 aren't you, and she said yes but all our reservations are gone and we were looking to close early.. at this point I realized that the people in this restaurant were more concerned about leaving than they were about us having a good experience.
They directed us to a coffee shop around the corner where we could continue our conversation, which we tried and that coffee shop was closed so we ended up ending our visit, not the way we envisioned the event going, not the way I would have liked it to have gone, I'm afraid that I won't be back to...
Read moreThis was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. And that means a lot coming from a foodie like me that has been to hundreds of restaurants around the country and is not picky/overall just looking to have a good dining experience. I was there w/a party of 3. The other people I were with ordered prime ribs. Both of their prime ribs came out ice cold. I ordered the soup which was too salty and the Cajun pasta which was also too salty. Because I wasn’t happy with the dining experience I didn’t tip as well as I normally would. But by far no means insulting. However we decided to lounge in the bar area after the meal to continue to support this local restaurant. when we were in that area the waiter accosted me and loudly yelled at me saying he was unhappy with the tip. This has never ever happened to me ever and completely embarrassed me in front of the friends I was with. Another waiter came later and literally threw a straw at me as well when I was with my friends. I would never ever recommend anyone to come here the staff was so rude and unprofessional.
**UPDATE: 2 days after my visit to Tousey House T I received a phone call from Meggie who is the Manager and daughter of the owners. She was very apologetic for the incidents described above. Has addressed the situation that occurred in the lounge and even had the chef(s) taste test and tweak their recipe. I was very appreciative of that. Meggie even provided compensation for the next time I dine. That means a lot. I’m sure my next experience here will...
Read moreAtmosphere was great. Server was friendly. Food came out 40-45 after we ordered. 30+ min went by, was told by manager they were dropping the Cod now. Not sure what transpired to cause the delay? 3 of us got Cod. 2 of the plates looked great. Mine looked dbl deep fried and also tasted soooo greasy as if it were. The other Cod looked amazing. My question is, why was mine black crusted as the others were a light golden brown? Especially if they were cooked simultaneously? It felt like they ran to Kroger to by more Cod and then deep fried mine again? Certainly disappointed. Reservations at 7:30, we left at 10pm. Yes we chatted a bit, but my goodness, not the experience we were looking for. I assumed the manager would do something as attentive businesses typically recognize their mistakes.....nope. Ssems the nice people get nothing when silent and allow managers to do the rt thing. It's no wonder people get attitudes when things go wrong. That's not good either, but they end up settled but only after doing something that should be taken care of with good management. You also shouldn't serve food that you wouldn't eat, then just assume the customer would feel differently. Odds are, they won't want it either. Plenty of other places around to eat. We will not be returning, nor can we with a good conscious recommend to others. We gave grace for sure. Just really bummed about the whole experience and lack of awareness by management (taller bald gentlemen). 4.7 starts on tons of reviews. Ssems we just came on a bad...
