Really lovely meal tonight at the restaurant. The cornmeal fried spring onions were fantastic, and the house-made porcini cavatelli was perfectly cooked. It’s so lovely to see how the place has been restored, and to be able to wander through the hotel common areas when visiting the restaurant. We’d love to see them add some dessert wines (we were told the only sweet wine was available by the bottle) and after-dinner coffee bar options to the menu. Our server clearly felt bad letting us know that there was no option for an after-dinner espresso, just regular coffee. Would also love to see one more vegetarian main course available. Really, this menu is so well thought out for this time and this place. We had the PEI Cattail Mussels, complemented with very thinly sliced okra strips that were flash fried, cornmeal veggies (squash), Duck and Dumplings (puts chicken and dumplings to shame), and Pork Fried Perloo (a southern take on pork fried rice using Carolina rice) which has been a low country staple for centuries.
