10 people in restaurant at 742pm they close at 9. Took 10 minutes to even have someone come to the table after we were seated. Finally we were asked about what we wanted to drink. Asked for lemon for our tea they came after we received our food. My son's food order was completely wrong, may not have been the waitress's fault as she wrote everything down, but at least check the plates before you deliver them. Took 15 more minutes to recieve his plate. Asked again for lemon. Also not delivered by our waitress yet. Asked the waitress that delivered the food if she could send our waitress over. She went to the back and loudly said 32 wants to speak with you. She didn't come, finally the waitress that brought my sons food said is there something I could help you with I said yes these fries are soggy so she says okay I'll get you crispy ones. 15 more minutes until fries arrived. They were soaked in grease and so overcooked the middles were dry. Meanwhile before the fries arrived ourwaitress shows up with a different attitude that originally took our order and says what wrong I say and she says okay I'll get you fries I said the other waitresssaid shewould bring them I said it's okay it wasn't that big of a deal I didn't mean to cause an issue she leaves and returns with a refill of tea. Fries arrive after that by the other waitress. Noone on the floor for another 20 minutes finally a man that ordered a refill on auce food got his order.you could read the frustration on their faces. Noone on .the floor again. Then our waitress and the waitress that brought my sons food and fries has a conversation about hours worked and too many hours etc etc. I get it I work you get tired but suck it up and take care of your customers. Don't dissappear preclosing in the back with no one to attend to the customers. I don't mean one but all of them. Finally we asked the bartender as she was doing sidework for 2 to go drink cups and 2 to go boxes. When we received drink refills I asked our waitress if I pay up front or to her shesays I'll bring your ticket. No one ever came out of the back the bartender brought our cups and boxes. Crickets Noone on the floor finally we got up from our table I asked the bartender if she could cash us out she says you have to wait for your waitress. I stood at the bar for 20 minutes. Finally after listening to an extensive conversation with our waitress and manager i said i just want to pay and leave. The manager says we are figuring it out. Good lord 2 dinners at 12 bucks and 2 iced teas how hard is that. Waitress walk from around the corner hands me the receipt I hand back the receipt and my credit card no conversation no eye contact. What a horrible experience, management perhaps customer service should come before preclosing an hour before closing. BTW bartender was smiling upbeat and very nice...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Sonny's was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to the mouthwatering food and the acts of compassion demonstrated by the staff, particularly Tori, the manager.
From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the irresistible aroma of smoked meats, setting the stage for a memorable meal. The menu offered a tantalizing array of options, from savory ribs to juicy pulled pork, each dish expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The sides were equally impressive, with classics like macaroni and cheese and collard greens adding depth to the dining experience.
However, it was Tori's act of compassion that truly touched my heart. During my visit, I noticed a guest dining alone at a nearby table, looking visibly upset. Without hesitation, Tori approached the guest with a warm smile and a listening ear, offering words of comfort and support. She went out of her way to ensure that the guest felt valued and cared for, embodying the spirit of hospitality that defines Sonny's Barbecue.
Tori's act of compassion exemplifies the ethos of kindness and generosity that permeates Sonny's . Her genuine concern for the well-being of others creates a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel like part of the family. It's this sense of community and connection that sets Sonny's apart from other dining establishments and makes it a truly special place to enjoy a meal.
my experience at Sonny's was nothing short of exceptional. From the delicious food to the heartfelt acts of compassion, every aspect of my visit left a positive impression. I highly recommend Sonny's Barbecue to anyone in search of not only delicious barbecue fare but also a dining experience infused with warmth, kindness, and...
Read moreWe quit going to Sonny's 2 years ago. Staff was always snippy, tables dirty, and food was crackpot quality. We decided after 2 years to give it another try. Some of the new menu items looked interesting.
We arrived about 1 1/2 hours before closing on Monday night. The hostess greeted us and then asked if a table was ok. I replied that we preferred a booth, and she says,' we dont have any'. We could clearly see 4 booths available in the middle of the restaurant, so I asked about them. She told us those weren't available because the server was going home. I then asked her,' Why would you ask if ok if we were going to be given table anyway?' She didn't like that. Tossed our menus on the table and walked away. The table given was a long table in the corner that had been used and left dirty, and we were sat at other end of a table full of dishes Ewwww. I didn't catch her name, a shorter black young woman with long, thin braids. She's not a good representation of this business. ( Strike 1 and 2 on this visit already)
So we waited. We had looked over menus and were all ready to order. We see 3 servers talking at the bar area. There were 3 tables of other customers with menus, no drinks, and no one serving. After 10 minutes, we waived to hostess. She just walked away.
So we just got up and left. I considered ordering from takeout as it smelled good. We decided against that idea because if we can't even get treated politely, why would we expect food to be safe and edible? On a side note... the food across the street at Fujiyama Japanese Steakhouse was AMAZING.
We used to go to Sonny's once or twice a week. Not anymore. Florida Cracker has way better food, ambiance, prices...AND...
