I had heard good things about Amor & Agave, so I decided to give it a try, but my experience was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment we walked in, things felt off. The hostess barely acknowledged us and took nearly ten minutes to seat us, despite the restaurant being half-empty. Once we were finally seated, it took another 15 minutes for our server to even come by and take our drink orders. When we did finally get our drinks, the margarita I ordered tasted watered down and bland—definitely not worth the price.
The food was just as bad. We started with chips and salsa, which should be a basic staple at any Mexican restaurant, but the chips were stale, and the salsa tasted like it came straight out of a can—no spice, no freshness, just bland and watery. For my entrée, I ordered the carne asada tacos, and they were an absolute disaster. The meat was dry, overcooked, and had an odd, rubbery texture. The tortillas were cold, and the rice and beans on the side were just as bad—bland, dry, and seemingly reheated from earlier in the day. My friend’s enchiladas weren’t much better; they arrived barely warm, and when we asked if they could be reheated, they came back only slightly warmer, as if they had been microwaved for 10 seconds.
What made the experience even worse was the management. When we politely brought up our concerns about the food and slow service, the manager barely seemed to care. Instead of apologizing or trying to make things right, they just gave us a half-hearted excuse about being “short-staffed” and walked away before we could even respond. If they had shown any effort to fix the situation, I might have been more understanding, but the complete lack of customer service was infuriating.
For the prices they charge, I expected much better food and service. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the area that do a far better job. If you’re looking for good Mexican food and a pleasant dining experience, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I will never...
Read moreRave post on the Mexican Restaurant in Bushnell Amor Agave. I know there have been several Mexican restaurants in this location over the past few years that have not succeeded for various reasons. Today a group of us went for the first time today after church and we were not disappointed. Here are all the positive points: Very friendly staff Nice clean environment Good menu choices Great prices Food made fresh (a little longer wait time, but worth it) Corn tortillas made from scratch Beautiful dish presentation A. Fresh half lime wrapped in mesh cloth so when you squeeze the lime doesn't slip out of your hand and the seeds dont get in your food B. A beautiful purple & white edible orchid as a garnish. Now the food, IT WAS DELICIOUS. Full of flavor & seasoning. I have always described good Mexican food like having a hopping Mariachi Band in my mouth. I had Taco Beria They were not greasy and the consume that you dip it in was delicious and flavorful and was not too salty as some others I have had. My husband had Beef Fajitas and the meat was delicious and seasoned well. Not bland at all. My.mom had the Enchilad dinner and she loved hers as well Others had Agave Pelusa and shrimp fajitas. They loved theirs as well. The owners wife came out to speak with us about our experience. She was super friendly. Our server, Ana, was great and handle our party of 8 with great professionalism.
Bottom line and purpose of this post was to never give up on a location because of past failures of other businesses. We have done the one and done restaurants before, but Amor Agave will not be one of them. We will definitely be back and frequently. Please stop in for lunch or dinner and give them a try. Oh, I almost forgot the negatives.... There...
Read moreI'll start by saying I NEVER go to a restaurant the first few weeks. I let them work out the issues before I even try it. BUT we decided to try this since we weren't in a hurry and understand it's going to be their learning curve time. We've been in the business so I know things come up unexpected and you can't train for them. They did a soft opening the night before which I read went well so we chanced it. I have to tell you it was a Pleasant surprise!! The staff were so welcoming even though they were so busy. You could tell they were still learning but I don't know anyone who starts a First day at a job and knows everything! Our waiter was qo perfume & attentive to our party of 6. The Food was Incredible!!! You could taste the freshness! The salsa comes in little bottles but you pour it in a bowl or on your food. Again the freshness showed through. When we asked for super hot sauce, they brought us Freshly made hot salsa. As for atmosphere you can tell it's still a work in progress. I Know for a Fact they had to sink a TON of money in that kitchen. I'd guess they're $300,000 in considering all the appliances that were there were thrown out!! So I can't eat decorations or professionally painted walls but I sure can eat Fresh Delicious Food!! I can't wait to go back, and that says a lot considering we ate there the First Night!! Anyone that expects absolute perfection on an opening business has never opened one!! I'm so excited to see them grow! Locals be sure to support our locals!! So we keep good places...
