We’ve been living in butler for 5 years now and always see Mac’s parking lot full of cars, so we figured this place MUST be good and decided to finally try it out.

When you first walk in, you’re greeted by the cashier. This is where you look at the menu, order and pay for your food ahead of time. It’s a little overwhelming since you have to stand right by the door while you decide.

We got there a little after 11 am and placed our order fairly quickly. We sat ourselves and were given a number so they could bring us our food.

As we waited for our food, we spoke with a couple who had two young kids who placed their order right after us. The kids kept saying how hungry they were to the employees and the employees would just say that they’re “busy” and “everyone in Butler decided to come eat here today.” Meanwhile, the restaurant was practically empty.

After waiting OVER an hour, we finally got our food. The server who dropped our food off said to be careful because our plates were “scorching hot” however that was not the case. Our food was cold and it wasn’t even tasty. :(

We wanted to walk out and tell the servers to cancel our order, but we had already paid so that wasn’t an option.

I do not normally write bad reviews - i believe everyone and every business has a bad day or two and that does not define them however our experience here has lead us to write...

I was in Butler, PA early in the morning & was in need of a good breakfast. I stumbled upon Mac’s Route 8 Cafe. I pulled into the parking lot and noticed it was to busy. I walked in and was greeted warmly by the hostess. I told her I was a first timer, she quickly went over how things are done there. First, you place your order at the counter & are given a numbered table tent, they bring your meal to you. Second, you select your coffee mug at the counter as well. There is a coffee bar where you refill your drink & get your cream & sugar. You also seat your self, tables or booths are your options. I had the standard scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon (crispy) & white toast with butter. My coffee was good, hot & fresh. I do put a lot of cream in there, so I make it more of a latte. As the morning progressed, the restaurant filled up quick. I had a feeling the is a local haunt for sure. A few minutes later our waitress brought out our breakfast entrees. It was perfectly prepared & really hit the spot. You really can’t go wrong with a nice hardy breakfast. The atmosphere was very relaxing & calm, just the locals chatting & enjoying their breakfast. I very much enjoyed my dinning experience here. The staff was awesome & the food was great. I strongly recommend you try a...

First time being at Mac's Cafe. My only reason for giving 4 stars for the atmosphere is because if I hadn't been with someone who's familiar with their unique way of service, then I would of been lost. The staff should greet the guest and immediately explain the process. This restaurant has you look at the menu as you walk inside and place your order and drink type, then you pay. After seating yourself, you go to the drink station to serve yourself. The servers do check up on the tables regularly, and they all were excellent and friendly. Our food arrived very fast and it was delicious. The menu has plenty of options. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. The prices are fair and reasonable. Overall, this place is a must! They have several years of awards for best restaurant...

NIce local cafe with good food. The omelets are really big and you get plenty of home fries. Coffee is good and you refill drinks on your own. The only thing I didn’t like what you have to order right at the front door and then sit down. They give you a number and bring the food to you. Other than that it’s all pretty much on your own. It’s still worth stopping and the breakfast are nice These people work at service and do a great job. The place is also kept really clean. The bathrooms are immaculate.

My family from Pittsburgh come up just to go here. 1-10-24 i love this place. Mary is my favorite as she used to be my regular waitress at kings before they closed. Mac's has excellent pancakes, those are my favorite! Every time I take some one with me whatever they get to eat, they absolutely enjoy and enjoy the restaurant as much as I do!
