We visited Luna Llena Bar and Grill yesterday. Our group came in around 7:45 pm, when we walked in the place was pretty empty. There were a couple of people at the bar and one table seated, which seemed to be family or friends of the establishment. We were sat and ordered drinks, at first everything seemed like it was going to be a decent place with good service.
Waitress was nice, at first… we were informed that they did not have chuletas, which was what my husband was hoping for. But she took our order, wings, 2 burgers and a steak plate. My husband was still undecided on his entree and we let the waitress know that before hand. Our wings came out, they were pretty good, but no dipping sauce was offered (ranch, blue cheese, etc…) Which was fine, not a huge issue.
Then came the problems. The steak plate came out about 15 minutes after the wings, and was barely lukewarm. Like it had sat on the counter for 10-15 minutes. During this time, a larger group of people had come in, it looked like friends or family of the establishment were coming in for a birthday celebration. There were balloons and gifts set up. It looked nice. They gathered, had their order taken, etc. Pretty normal, not a big deal. A few other tables had filled up at this point.
We were still waiting for our burgers. We watched several plates come out of the kitchen to tables that were sat well after ours. At this point we had been waiting well over an hour. For 2 burgers. My husband finally decided to order a burger. He was told that because he waited so long to order, it would be a bit for his food to come out because they had gotten backed up with orders from the large party. Finally, our 2 burgers came out, an hour and 15 minutes after we ordered them. We were told by the waiter that another server had mistakenly delivered our burgers to another table, which is why it took so long. Okay, fine. Frustrating for us because we were hungry and it was well after 9pm, but whatever. We started eating. We both had ordered our burgers medium well. They were RAW. It literally looked like the cook tossed the burgers on the grill for 2 minutes, flipped them and then threw them on the bun. It was disgusting. The meat was so raw, it was cold to the touch.
My husband decided to cancel his order, after seeing what we were served and being told it was going to take a while for him to get his food. The male server was super nice, but the female server who we then found out was the owner, was there arguing with us. Saying he was told it was going to take a while, it was his fault for waiting so long to order, we could tell she was angry and not taking accountability for her mistake or for the long wait. She said to us “this is not a fast food place…” okay, but we didn’t expect to wait 90 minutes for hamburgers. We were in no way being rude or belligerent with her, we were simply saying that if it was going to take more than an hour for the burger, we would cancel and just move on. She walked off with an attitude. The male server said not to worry, my husband’s burger was almost done and would be out momentarily… weird because the owner/initial waitress had just told us it was going to be a while. But okay… The owner/initial waitress was storming around, slamming the kitchen door, clearly angry that we had brought these issues to their attention. Nice business practice.
We also showed them the state of our food, the raw uncooked meat they’d served us. The male server was very apologetic and understanding. My husband got his burger, and IT WAS RAW. We asked for his meal to be boxed knowing he was NOT going to eat that food, and prepared to leave. The male server was kind and took $4 off of our bill for the undercooked meat. He was the ONLY employee in the restaurant who tried to rectify the situation. Personally I don’t think we should’ve been charged for the burgers that we did not eat but at this point, we just wanted to leave. But it was what it was. Our entire meal was awful from start to finish.
Whether an off day or not, this...
Read moreWhen we arrived, there were plenty of empty tables but told us that only the bar was open due to a "birthday party". Ironically, we're there for my father's bday... But ok cool. We see the happy hour schedule on FB, was posted an hr before we arrived. They tell us happy hour is over. I'm like "this is over and it was posted an hr ago, stating that it's going on until 9pm..?". They double check and then they finally decide to give us the special. We then order food at 9 and our food didn't come out til 11 but we're watching ppl come in, sit down and eat that came after us.. I don't know.. I did not like feeling the way I did, waiting for 2 hours.. Did not enjoy the experience and the Mac and cheese was large but not worth a 2-hr wait. My friends all ordered burgers and it came out maybe 30 minutes before mine. They gave me some fries to hold me over until my meal came. I don't think I'd ever spend a dollar at this establishment.. The drinks were the only good part and...
Read moreFound this while visiting in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. The burger was delicious and the ribs were also very good. The drinks were very good especially the passion fruit mojito. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Live band but they were playing 90s/00s very niche type of music.. Mana, etc. I’m tired of hearing that style of music everywhere I go in PR… it’s what a certain social standing group of puertorrican a listen to, not the majority of the population. overall...
