We sat at the bar. A male bartender, thin, longer, curly hair, would not wait on us for anything. He is one stressed kid and very NON-BARTENDER FRIENDLY. He knew husband and I had sat at the bar, 2 others (parties of 1 ea) sat AFTER us and they were given service. This guy was ruder than rude, extremely unprofessional and really seems to be stressed in his current occupation. I have 27 yrs of bartender, bar management, & waitressing under my belt and this guy is doing the restaurant no favors by showing up for shifts. The way he plops thru the bar, talks to co-workers... really, I have never seen an unhappier bartender, ever! Don't know what his problem was/is - in most restaurant/bars U can't choose who to wait on...His co-worker made excuses for him - C'mon he shouldn't have to do this. The kid thinks he is God's gift to the business -the easily seen truth is - he is horrible at his profession: the protocol, the responsibilities and the attitude are not what I expect from anyone from this type of restaurant - for ANY restaurant... BUT, U know what?!! -- two managers were often behind the bar - neither could say "Hello", ask how things were, ask if we needed something... they had no communication with bar guests. I guess his group of 'leads' taught him what they know... The other bartender was nice, explained the menu (Oh, yes, this was our 1st time here), this man actually took our order... It had been 13 min of sitting at the bar before getting greeted and being asked if we wanted a drink, 20 before getting our drink... He even seemed very put out at having to introduce the entertainment for the night. (She was good by the way - really good). The food was just ok - the ribs were tasteful but very little meat on the bones. We won't be back and hope this review saves others time and money - there has to be (or should be) another restaurant/bar somewhere near Paducah...You don't find this problem (even with the employee shortage) in the Nashville, Atlanta, Asheville, Knoxville area... I really would like to know from management why this kid wouldn't wait on my husband and I and why he is so rude to co-workers...- this would be a good conversation to have prior giving him his...
Read moreLive on the lake but had never been, so we chose this for my son's 19th birthday just tonight. Had reservations for 5:15, got there at 5:10. Was told it would be shortly. Saw a party of six or so come in with same time reservations, seated before us, no biggie, they were piano bar, we were dining room. A reservation of two came in next, also for dining room, asked to wait a bit too. After had been waiting about 10 minutes another reservation of five for dining room came in, they were seated immediately (same reservation time as us). Finally about two or three minutes later, we were seated. Overall, not a long wait but it was mildly irritating to see same number, same area, same time get seated while we were still waiting. Not a huge deal, got over it quickly. Waitress was attentive, but did have to ask for complimentary cornbread. Took my drink without asking when was still half full. Still nothing so outrageous as to make me upset. Ordered the burger and fries, was very good. Asked waitress under breath once we were very close to being done if they did anything for birthdays at all. She said yes, free dessert. Cool, please do so. Finished eating without seeing her again, then when she came I had given up on the "birthday" so asked for to go boxes and check. Brought to go boxes, check, and then left to go ring us up, THEN finally brought a beautiful slice of cheesecake, which we all tried a bite of, was very good, then all of a sudden when there is still three good bites of it left, my son abruptly stands up and says let's go. We are startled but follow his lead. We do not find out until we are headed for the door why it was so abrupt. He found a long hair right in the middle and thought he was gonna be sick. My son works in food service himself so rarely will he say anything no matter what it is, and is also very shy so did not want to cause a scene or embarrass anyone, so he kept it himself, only telling us as we were leaving. So I will give three stars because things happen, most people have hair, it is a fact of life, but most likely will not go back for $13 burgers and $23 Voodoo Shrimp for these reasons. But our food really was pretty good, but we just drew the short...
Read moreArrived and learned that if you do not make reservations you could be out of luck. Fortunatly this was not the case. We were seated in what appeared to be an excellent intimate location in a couples booth attached to the bar. After about 40 min I learned we were seated near the smokers exit. Ordered fried pickles, evidently after they realized they had forgotten about us once we asked where they were an hour after they were ordered we relieved them.
Management apologized and bought our first round of drinks. This was excellent and did please me for the visit. Fried pickles we're good not exceptional but good. They could use some paprika and garlic in their recipe. Started off with yinglings better which was not on tap but in a bottle. Excellent beer and one of the only ones I like. Then we tried the Wild Hibiscus which if not for the Tito's Vodka would have been amazing. The bite of the vodka on this drink was distracting. The best part of this drink was the candied Hibiscus flower.
Next tuna sashimi served with a smoke siracha sauce. They serve it with a house firecracker sauce which tastes like it had duck sauce, soy sauce, and dumpling sauce, with teriyaki and honey. With this we had the Doc Holiday which was an exceptional drink and the candied Hibiscus was exceptional yet again.
So atmosphere was exceptional, service was mostly good. There were a few lacking points. Had to ask for the complimentary house corn bread as it did not seem very complimentary. House cornbread was good. Tastes like a butter cookie only made from corn meal instead of flower. The drinks were good, food was fresh and delicious. I would have however preferred to not be put in an area where I would freeze every few minutes when someone decided to be rude and hold the smokers door open in the winter. I did enjoy the visit and atmosphere. I plan to go back. I appreciated them taking care of the first...
