2023 experience: In 2018 my son and I were in Hopkinsville and stopped at Triplets BBQ for lunch. Eating bbq in a silo was a fun experience, so my wife and I found ourselves in Hopkinsville tonight and decided to take her so she could check it out.
We called and someone answered and hung up before I could say a word and when we got to the restaurant it appears they have integrated Triplets with another restaurant and turned the silo into the bar. Needless to say I’m very disappointed. I wish someone would have answered the phone and saved me an extra hour drive. We ended up across the street at Cracker Barrel.
2018 review (4 stars) We drove to Cadiz, KY to pick up some bike parts and when we asked about a good place to eat and he said Triplets without a thought. It was a little awkward to find because it is behind another larger restaurant, but when we saw that the restaurant was inside of a grain bin we knew, at the very least, the atmosphere would be great and we weren’t disappointed. The restaurant had a rustic feel with the tables being handmade locally and a HUGE industrial fan spanning the ceiling and circulating the nice cool air on a hot, humid Kentucky day.
The servers greeted us at the door and and very attentive. Our drinks never ran out and the food was out promptly.
I tried both the brisket and the pulled pork. Both options were great but the pulled pork was the better of the two. There were two homemade sauces on the table: the first a house Dr. Pepper sauce that was mild and sweet and a Judge Sauce that was tangy and mustard based. The Judge Sauce was the better of the two, but I would have liked to have had a spicier offering as well.
The sides offering was pretty standard for a bbq joint so I chose the string fries and Gouda Mac and cheese. The fries were solid but the Mac and cheese was amazing. My one regret was not getting the brisket chili as a side. It looked amazing.
Overall it was a great experience. You you find yourself in Cadiz, KY definitely...
Read more2nd time eating here. First I walked in and was standing by the sign that said to wait to be seated. Wasn't hardly anybody there. (2 tables) They said hello but didn't seem to be in a hurry to seat us. Even though I'm obviously handicapped. I said well why can't I sit at this table. "Oh sure go ahead" We ordered I asked does the potato salad have the peelings on them? No. Ok potato salad! Well it does have peelings on them. My Pork sandwich was ok had 2 big pieces of fat in it. Yuk!! She brought the ticket and said there was no hurry and walked off. I thought well they're losing money, she didn't ask, anything else? Dessert? Nope. After about 10 minutes she finally came back and I said we're still hungry. I want another pork sandwich. I thought the fat was a fluke. Nope got 2 pieces of fat in THAT sandwich. I will say the banana pudding was very good. But this place is nothing exceptional the 2 times I've been here. I've been to much better places. I guess it's just average. The wife had chicken and said it was good. Service was a little slow. When she brought the drinks she could have said do you know what you want or do you need more time. Nope she walked off and I'll give you a few minutes while walking away. I came there because I was hungry and wanted to eat, not wait, then wait, then finally order the food. I know the food takes a few minutes, but could we get the order in as fast as possible? I've managed restaurants and so has my wife just to let you know, we know what it takes to do this right,...
Read moreThe place itself is very nice and upkept. Well the men's bathroom has a huge section of drywall out but that is more than likely due to a recent repair. We arent from here but after reading all the great reviews it seemed like a for sure deal. When we were there were two other couples seated. Keep this in mind as no one else came in during this time. We got our drinks very quickly and being our first time we were looking over the menu, during this time our very young waitress was at the table next to ours for the next 30 min talking to a couple that started their conversation with who are you voting for? Really??? To which the waitress replied I'm only 17 and can't but was this the end of the conversation, NOPE. For the next 20-30 min we had to listen to her and this older couple who might add was finished with their meals talk about the country and politics. Meanwhile we still haven't gotten to order. Now I know taking to the customer is a part of waiting but not when you completely ignore other customers. Then we ordered in a few min she comes back to inform us they didn't have chips for the nachos on the menu? The food was mediocre not bad at all but nothing special either. $6 for a small side of broccoli salad seemed a little excessive. We didn't complain about anything and she did comp our drinks which was nice of her but shouldnt have been a reason to do so in the first place. The establishment itself...
