Tl;dr: Was decent, not worth a $100 bill though.
For appetizers we ordered shrimp tempura and miso soup. The soup was good tasting, but the shrimp tempura was rather lacking in flavor and the shrimp per se were pretty tiny (and only 3) for its hefty $9 dollar cost. They try to offset with two giant onion rings but surprisingly even those tasted pretty bland.
As a main course a churrasco bento box with spring roll and california rolls and two different sushi rolls were served (california special and coco roll. The churrasco meat was indeed medium rare as I ordered it and tasted extremely good, its sauce was perfectly done (my complements to the chef), the rice tasted rather bland too, along with the spring roll. I cant speak too much for the sushi rolls. Because my partner was the one that ordered them. She has gone to many many sushi places around the island and expressed to me that they were nothing to write home about and it would have been nice if the coco roll had at least crunchy coconut, not “raw” flakes.
As a dessert we had the fried ice cream. As you would expect, tasted like normal ice cream and the breading tasted pretty good too. The presentation was very pretty with chocolate sauce, whipped cream dots and the cherry sauce. It gave a good finish to everything.
The service was alright. Server was not that friendly at the start but after a few please and thank yous from our part warmed up a bit. We had a bit of a communication issue at times, where we would have to repeat ourselves multiple times(never happened to us before). Wether the server has problems hearing or the ambience was too loud, I do not know the cause of it but its totally fine, nothing horrible. Some of the interactions felt pretty forced by the server though, you know that forced kindness? Yeah.
Overall thoughts are that some of the plates during the whole experience tasted a tad too bland and the cost was a bit too high for the products and service presented. Not 10 minutes too far from this place you can find various oriental restaurants with overall better tasting food, lower price with better staff and more variety in the menu.
The place has great potential and great esthetic, it just needs minor adjustments in some places. Maybe the live...
Read moreI have been here several times. It is our go to when in Caguas. I am giving it 5 in service because that was great this time. But the food was bad. All the meals were sub par. My mom stomach has been upset since we left 3 hours ago. As for the sushi it was so below par. We ordered four different rolls (2 new and 2 favorites). The samurai roll was completely falling apart. The Santo domingo roll which is crispy was so hard. The San Juan roll tasted bad. The dragon roll was the only one that was ok. They must have a new sushi barrista with little to no experience. In now way does it meet the standards of a $200 plus bill.I was going to give a 3 star rating but it is a 2 because it definitely wasn’t the waiters fault. Why didn’t we return the rolls and complain, because when we asked the sushi guy for a soy sauce bowl he just was completely bothered. Update: I don't like giving bad reviews if I can avoid it. The owner requested more information which I have tried to call and provide. Unfortunately I have called several times and left my contact information with no call back. The look of a recent review shows there is a problem with their food. *dropped my...
Read moreIf you are looking for great Japanese teppanyaki, delicious sushi and sushi roll, bento box, sashimi then you need to visit this restaurant. The decor is beautiful and cozy and the waitress was very attentive but not intrusive. Wife and I had the fried calamari as an appetizer which was delicious. I had the salmon bento box and my wife had a sushi roll with miso soup. Everything was great. Prices may be a little on the high side but it's doable. My only complaint is that they don't serve hot Japanese tea and don't have ginger dressing for the salad. Our new place for sushi...
